Tapping the Vein is the fifth studio album by German thrash metal band Sodom, released in August 1992 through Steamhammer/SPV. The album was recorded with producer Harris Johns at Dierks Studios in Cologne, Germany. The release marks the studio debut of guitarist Andy Brings and is the last album to feature original member Chris Witchhunter on drums.

Tapping the Vein received positive reviews from critics, who noted the band's efforts in modernising their sound. The album peaked at number 56 on Germany's Official Top 100 Charts, and was promoted on a tour throughout Europe and Japan in 1992.

It was their last album with guitarist Frank Blackfire until his return to the band in 2018. The lyrical content delves deeply into Tom Angelripper's fascination with the Vietnam War, with a song dedicated to the ground assault aircraft AC-47 as well as the Agent Orange defoliant-inspired title-track. It was their first album to enter the German album charts where it reached number 36. Agent Orange sold 100,000 copies in Germany alone and marked the commercial break through for the band. Faceless World is the third studio album by German heavy metal band U.D.O., released on 25 February 1990 via RCA Records. It was recorded in Dierks Studios in Cologne and mastered in Hamburg. The album's musical style features a more light approach than previous and future albums, and achieved great success. Previous guitarist Andy Susemihl had left the band, but takes writing credits for "System of Life", "Living on a Frontline" and "Future Land". Guitarist Wolla Böhm was added, but is only credited and pictured in the album as a member, although he does perform with the band in the "Heart of Gold" music video. All guitar work was done by Mathias Dieth.

Genesis XIX is the sixteenth studio album by the German thrash metal band Sodom, released on 27 November 2020. It is the first studio album to feature returning guitarist Frank Blackfire since 1989's Agent Orange, as well as new members, guitarist Yorck Segatz and drummer Toni Merkel. As such, this album marks the first time in Sodom's history that they had recorded an album as a quartet rather than a trio.
