Tates Creek High School (TCHS) is a public school in Lexington, Kentucky. The school is one of six high schools in the Fayette County Public Schools district.

History

Tates Creek High School was built, and founded in 1965 as the last of three schools on the Tates Creek Campus. (Tates Creek Elementary School and Tates Creek Middle School being the other two.) In 1993, Tates Creek High underwent renovations to significantly increase its size. [3] In August 2019, it was decided a new Tates Creek High School would be constructed behind the original building which opened on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022. [4] The original building was demolished in June 2022. [5]

During the 2006–2007 school year, students were moved to their newly built school known as Bryan Station High. The school was named for Bryan Station, an 18th-century pioneer settlement. The school's sports teams are called the Defenders, and the school mascot is the "Mean Man"; the school says "His persona reflects the heritage of the pioneers at the siege of Bryan Station Fort between the British and Indians in 1782."

Frederick Douglass High School is a public high school located on the eastern side of Lexington, Kentucky, United States. The 2019–20 Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team represented the University of Kentucky in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team played its home games in Lexington, Kentucky for the 44th consecutive season at Rupp Arena, with a capacity of 20,545. The Wildcats were led by John Calipari in his 11th season as head coach and played in the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 25–6, 15–3 in SEC play to win the SEC regular season championship. They were set to be the No. 1 seed in the SEC tournament with a bye to the quarterfinals. However, the SEC Tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With the SEC Tournament cancelled, they were awarded the SEC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. However, the NCAA Tournament was also cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
