Tejn Church, Bornholm

Tejn Church is located at Tejn on the north-east coast of the Danish island of Bornholm. The most recent of the island's churches, it was built in 1940 to a Functionalist design by Emanuel Grauslund (1901-1951). It is a simple, whitewashed building on a granite base with rectangular, small-paned windows and a red-tiled roof. [1] [2]

Inside, the distinctive font consists of loosely connected granite blocks. The organ from 1980 was built by Finn Krohn. [2]

Ertholmene

Tejn Town in Capital, Denmark

Tejn is a harbour town on the north-eastern coast of the Danish island of Bornholm, 5 km (3.1 mi) south of Allinge-Sandvig. As of 1 January 2021, it has a population of 863. Initially a fishing village, it grew considerably during the 20th century as the harbour was enlarged on several occasions. The local fishing industry reached its peak in the 1970s and 1980s but has since decreased, with negative implications for the town's activities.

St. Clements Church, Bornholm

St. Clement's Church is a parish church located in the village of Klemensker on the Danish island of Bornholm. Completed in 1882 in the Historicist style, it replaces an earlier Romanesque church from the 14th century or earlier. Today the church is noteworthy for works contributed by the Bornholm artist Paul Høm. A number of runestones have been found in the neighbourhood, two of which are now in the churchyard.

Ruths Church

Ruth's Church is a parish church located in the village of Rutsker near Hasle on the Danish island of Bornholm. The church was built in the early 13th century in the Romanesque style. Situated on a hilltop 130 m above sea level, it is the island's highest-standing church.

St. Nicolas Church, Rønne

St. Nicolas' Church with its distinctive tower is the parish church of Rønne on the island of Bornholm in the Diocese of Copenhagen. Enlarged and fully refurbished in 1918, it stands near the harbour on the site of an earlier church or chapel from the 13th century.

Svaneke Church

Svaneke Church is located in the small town of Svaneke on the Danish island of Bornholm. It stands above the harbour at a height of 18 metres on the site of a small chapel which appears to have existed for quite some time before the town received its charter in the 16th century. The church was expanded over the years, the tower and spire being completed in 1789. In 1881, virtually the whole building was rebuilt by architect Mathias Bidstrup of Rønne, leaving only the tower and a small section of the south wall.

Sankt Ols Kirke

Sankt Ols Kirke, also known as Olsker Church, is a 12th-century round church located in the village of Olsker, 4 km (2.5 mi) south of Allinge on the Danish island of Bornholm. Built in the Romanesque style and reaching three storeys high, it has from the beginning consisted of a round nave, a choir and an apse.

Allinge Church

Allinge Church is the parish church of Allinge-Sandvig on the Danish island of Bornholm. It stands at the centre of Allinge on a hill some 11 metres above sealevel. Initially just a small granite longhouse from the around the 14th century, in 1892 it was completely rebuilt in the Neogothic style.

Gudhjem Church

Gudhjem Church is the parish church of Gudhjem on the north coast of the Danish island of Bornholm. Completed in 1893, it replaces the now ruined St Anne's Chapel.

St. Canute's Church is a Romanesque church located 3 km northeast of Rønne on the Danish island of Bornholm.

Rø Church

Rø Church is a parish church located in the little village of Rø in the north of the Danish island of Bornholm. Completed in 1888, it replaces a Romanesque building dating from c. 1200 which was demolished in 1887 as a result of structural problems.

Vestermarie Church

Vestermarie Church is located in the little village of Vestermarie some 8 km east of Rønne on the Danish island of Bornholm. The present Neo-Romanesque church replaces a now demolished 14th-century building.

Olsker Village in Capital, Denmark

Olsker is a small community in the north of Bornholm island, Denmark. It is situated in Olsker parish, some 3.5 km south of Allinge and 2.5 km from Tejn. As of 2009, it has 67 inhabitants. It is known for having the highest of the island's four round churches, Sankt Ols Kirke, from which it takes its name. Olsker also has Bornholm Cable substation. Views from Olsker include that of the Baltic Sea, Christianso island, and two other islands.

Rutsker

Rutsker is a small settlement in Rutsker Parish on the Danish island of Bornholm. It is situated in the north western part of the island, 3 km northeast of Hasle. The populated area lies immediately south of Ruth's Church. As of 2009, Rutsker has a population of 64, nine less than in 2004.

Vang, Bornholm Village in Capital, Denmark

Vang is a little fishing village on the northwest coast of the Danish island of Bornholm, 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) north of Hasle. From the late 19th century, it prospered as a result of its granite-quarrying activities. As of 2009, the locality has 92 inhabitants, 17 more than in 2004.

Østerlars is a village in the northeast of the Danish island of Bornholm, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) south of Gudhjem and 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northwest of Østermarie. It is best known for its round church, the largest on the island. 1. January 2021 it had a population of 242.

Bechs Mølle

Bechs Mølle is a post mill located in Svaneke on the Danish island of Bornholm. Built in 1629, it is the oldest standing windmill in Denmark. In recent years, extensive restoration work has been carried out, preserving as far as possible the old structure and machinery.

Melstedgård

Melstedgård, also known as Bornholms Landbrugsmuseum, is an old farm 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) west of Svaneke on the Danish island of Bornholm. Built in 1801, the half-timbered farmhouse now serves as the centre of a farming museum. One of its main attractions is the windmill, Tejn Mølle, which opened in 2009. Melstedgård is operated s a part of the Bornholm Museum.
