The 55th district of the Texas House of Representatives contains roughly half of the population of Bell County, including most of the cities of Temple and Belton, and parts of Killeen. The current representative is Hillary Hickland, who was first elected in 2024. [1] [2]

The population was 2,403 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Tyler County. The town was named after George Tyler Wood, governor of Texas from 1847 to 1849.

James Dell Talarico is an American politician and former teacher. He was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2018 to represent District 52, which includes the cities of Round Rock, Taylor, Hutto, and Georgetown in Williamson County. Following the 2020 redistricting cycle, Talarico announced his run for a seat in District 50 in 2022, which he won. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
