Something for Kate are an Australian alternative rock band, which formed in 1994 with Paul Dempsey on lead vocals and guitar, and Clint Hyndman on drums. They were joined in 1998 by Stephanie Ashworth on bass guitar and backing vocals. The group have released seven studio albums: both The Official Fiction (2003) and Desert Lights (2006) topped the ARIA Albums Chart; while Beautiful Sharks (1999), Echolalia (2001) and Leave Your Soul to Science (2012) reached the top 10. Two of their singles have reached the ARIA top 20: "Monsters" (2001) and "Déjà Vu" (2003). The band have received a total of 11 nominations for ARIA Music Awards in 1999, 2001 and 2003.
The Superjesus is an Australian rock band formed in Adelaide in late 1994. Their debut album, Sumo, peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, their second album, Jet Age reached No. 5 and their third album, Rock Music peaked at No. 14. Their top 40 singles include "Down Again" (1997), "Now and Then" (1998), "Gravity" (2000) and "Stick Together" (2003). At the ARIA Music Awards of 1997 they won Best New Talent for Eight Step Rail and Breakthrough Artist – Single for "Shut My Eyes". The group disbanded in mid-2004 and reunited in 2013 with mainstay members Paul Berryman on drums, Sarah McLeod on lead vocals and Stuart Rudd on bass guitar.
The Mark of Cain are a hard rock, alternative metal band from Adelaide, South Australia. Their style has been likened to that of Helmet and Rollins Band, yet this band pre-dates both groups and was influenced by the early work of Joy Division, Big Black and United States hardcore groups. The Mark of Cain were formed in mid-1984 by brothers, John (guitar) and Kim Scott, with Rod Archer on vocals and Gavin Atkinson playing drums. Before long, Archer had left the group and John Scott took on the lead vocal role and the group has remained a trio ever since. The Scotts have been the core of the band which has featured 15 different drummers. Since January 2001, former Helmet member John Stanier has been their drummer; he is also concurrently with Tomahawk and Battles. Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, described the group's sound as "Gloomy, monotonous vocals and bleak slabs of metallic guitar did battle over a lurching rhythm section to arrive at a harsh sound." Rod Archer died on 26 February 2016. 2019 marks the 30th Anniversary of the release of the 'Battlesick' album. A major national tour is planned to celebrate the occasion. Eli Green again tours with the band fulfilling the drumming duties.
The Whitlams are an Australian indie rock band formed in late 1992. The original line-up was Tim Freedman on keyboards and lead vocals, Andy Lewis on double bass and Stevie Plunder on guitar. Other than mainstay Freedman, the line-up has changed numerous times. Since 2001 he has been joined by Warwick Hornby on bass guitar, Jak Housden on guitar and Terepai Richmond on drums. Four of their studio albums have reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 20: Eternal Nightcap, Love This City, Torch the Moon and Little Cloud. Their highest charting singles are "Blow Up the Pokies" and "Fall for You" – both reached number 21. The group's single, "No Aphrodisiac" was listed at number one on the Triple J Hottest 100, 1997 by listeners of national radio station, Triple J. In January 1996 Stevie Plunder was found dead at the base of Wentworth Falls. Andy Lewis committed suicide in February 2000.

Swirl were an Australia indie rock band, forming in 1991 by Ben Aylward on guitar and vocals, David Lord on drums and Nicola Schultz on bass guitar and vocals. Schultz left in 1997 and was replaced by Richard Anderson on bass guitar and keyboards and Keira Hodgkison on guitar and vocals. They released three albums, Aurora, The Last Unicorn and Light Fill My Room, before breaking up in December 2002.
Epicure were an Australian progressive rock band formed in Ballarat, in 1996 as Pima's Little Finger. Their original line-up was Juan Alban on vocals and guitar, Tim Bignell on bass guitar, Michael Brown on guitar, Luke Cairnes on guitar and Dom Santamaria on drums. "Armies Against Me" and "Life Sentence", were picked up by national youth radio, Triple J. These appeared on The Goodbye Girl, their third album. Both tracks were listed on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2003, whilst the title track of their next extended play, Self Destruct in Five, made the Triple J Hottest 100, 2004.
The Bens were a rock supergroup consisting of the trio, Ben Folds, Ben Kweller and Ben Lee, which toured for "the Bens Rock Over Australia tour" in 2003.
Sneeze are an Australian pop rock band formed in 1991 by Nic Dalton on vocals, bass guitar, guitar, keyboards, and drums, and Tom Morgan on vocals and guitar. They issued four albums, Sneeze (1993), The Four Seezons (1997), Lost the Spirit to Rock & Roll (2001) and Just The Blues Sped Up. As of mid-2019, Sneeze have been working on new material.
Gaslight Radio were an Australian indie rock band. It was founded by brothers, Martin (guitar) and Rory Cooke with Simon Piper (drums) and Phil Roubin in Burleigh Heads, Queensland in 1995. They released three studio albums, Hitch on the Leaves, Z-Nation (2003) and Good Heavens Mean Times, before disbanding in 2009.
Dirty Sweet is the debut four-track extended play released by Australian rock band Jet in November 2002 on Rubber Records. It was re-recorded and re-issued on 6 May 2003 by Elektra Records. All tracks on the EP are also on the band's debut album, Get Born, which followed on 14 September. Two tracks, originally on the EP, were later issued as singles from Get Born, "Rollover DJ" (November) and "Cold Hard Bitch".

"Animal" is the first single from Australian alternative rock band Jebediah's second studio album, Of Someday Shambles. It was released on 9 August 1999, which reached number 16 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart and polled at number 19 on national radio station, Triple J's Hottest 100 for 1999. The track was co-written by all four band members: Chris Daymond, Brett Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell and Vanessa Thornton.

Yves Klein Blue was an Australian indie rock band from Brisbane, which formed in 2005 and disbanded in 2010. The line-up included Chris Banham on drums and percussion, Sean Cook on bass guitar, Charles Sale on lead guitar and keyboards and Michael Tomlinson on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. Their name is from the colour, International Klein Blue, by Yves Klein.
Pollyanna was an indie rock band that formed in Sydney, Australia in early 1992. The original line-up was Andrea Croft on vocals and guitar, Matt Handley on vocals and guitar, Maryke (Rayke) Stapleton on bass guitar, and Serge Luca on drums. Demo tapes were recorded in July 1992 and March 1993 but there were no official releases with this line-up. Croft left Pollyanna in June 1993 to return home to Perth, leaving the remaining members to carry on as a three piece, with Handley, reluctantly at first, taking over the lead singer and song writing duties.
Maybe This Christmas is a holiday compilation album released in November 2002 through Nettwerk Records featuring contemporary musicians performing both classic and original Christmas songs. The album, named by Ron Sexsmith, is the first in a series of three holiday compilations released through the record label between 2002 and 2004. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of each album went to Toys for Tots, a charity supported by the United States Marine Corps. Most of the tracks exclusive to Maybe This Christmas were recorded just a few months prior to its release. The album's cover art was designed by artist Paul Frank, creator of Julius the pictured "wide-mouth monkey". Critical reception of the compilation was mixed, with reviewers often complimenting or criticizing select tracks. In the United States, the album reached a peak position of number thirty-eight on Billboard's Top Holiday Albums chart.
Wishful Thinking are an Australian pop-punk band that formed in 1998, disbanded in 2006 and reformed in 2019. The line-up includes Carl W. Jackson on Guitar and lead vocals, Alistair Elkins on bass guitar, Lachlan Jackson on Guitar and Leigh Thompson on drums. Brothers Carl & Lachlan Jackson formed the band with their neighbour Brendan Lichtendonk on drums in 1998 whilst living in Launceston, Tasmania. Carl & Lachlan relocated the band to Melbourne in 2001 and Leigh Thompson joined on drums. They were one of Australia's "buzz" punk/pop acts and were the first band signed to Boomtown Records in 2002. Wishful Thinking's musical style was pop punk and followed in the style of bands such as Blink 182 and New Found Glory.
