The Best is the second greatest hits album by Japanese-American singer-songwriter Ai, released on November 25, 2015, by EMI Records. It primarily features songs that were released as singles from her studio albums, including "Story" from Mic-a-holic Ai (2005), "Happiness" from Independent (2012), "Dear Mama" from Moriagaro (2013), and a solo cover version of K'naan's "Wavin' Flag (Coca-Cola Celebration Mix)". A deluxe version of the album was released in May 2016, which included "Minna ga Minna Eiyū" and other previously released songs from 2004 Ai (2004) and What's Goin' On Ai (2006).
The album sold over 121,000 copies since its release, receiving a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). On the Oricon charts, the album debuted at number 3, charting for 118 weeks. On the Billboard Japan charts, the album debuted and peaked at number 2.
In early 2015, Ai posted on Twitter revealing she was pregnant with her first child. Later that year in September, Ai shared the birth announcement of her child, a baby girl. She revealed she would be releasing a greatest hits album alongside a concert tour, The Best Tour. [1] In October, the album cover was shared online along with a special website created by Universal Music Japan. [2] Subsequently, a release date was revealed alongside the full track listing. [3]
Ai embarked on her tenth concert tour, The Best Tour, in promotion of the album. According to Billboard Japan , 130,000 people in total attended the tour. [4] In 2017, Ai released a DVD and Blu-ray featuring footage from the tour. The video album was released on the same day as her eleventh studio album, Wa to Yo .
A new music video for "Story" was released prior to the album's release featuring sand art by Ai's cousin. [5]
Commercially, The Best charted strongly upon release in Japan. Selling over 121,000 copies, the album sold more copies than her previous two studio albums, Independent (2012), and Moriagaro (2013) combined. The album debuted and peaked at number 3 on the Oricon Albums Chart and number 2 on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart.

Ai Carina Uemura, known mononymously as Ai, is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, spokeswoman, and actress. Born in Los Angeles, California, Ai moved to Kagoshima, at age 4. Motivated to become a singer, Ai returned to Los Angeles during her adolescence, attending the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. While in Los Angeles, Ai performed as part of a gospel choir at a Mary J. Blige concert and appeared as a backup dancer in Janet Jackson's music video, "Go Deep". She briefly joined the Asian girl group SX4 in 1999 until she graduated high school.
Tourbillon are a Japanese rock trio formed in 2005 by Luna Sea members Ryuichi Kawamura (vocals) and Inoran (guitar), and D-Loop member Hiroaki "H. Hayama" Hayama (keyboards). They reached number three on the Oricon Singles Chart with "Break the Chain", the opening theme of the TV series Kamen Rider Kiva. The group ended activities in 2008 shortly after its release. Tourbillon reunited in 2015, and again in 2023.
Superfly is a Japanese rock act that debuted on April 4, 2007. Formerly a duo, the act now consists solely of lyricist and vocalist Shiho Ochi with former guitarist Kōichi Tabo still credited as the group's composer and part-time lyricist. Misia Hoshizora no Live Song Book: History of Hoshizora Live is the second live album by Japanese singer Misia. It compiles live material, spread out over two discs, collected from the Hoshizora Live concert series, recorded from its first installment in 2001 to the most recent in 2015, in commemoration of the series' 15th anniversary. The double album was released on March 9, 2016, through Ariola Japan.
The Best So Far... 2018 Tour Edition is the fourth English-language greatest hits album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Columbia Records in Asia-Pacific to coincide with Dion's 2018 tour in this part of the world. The album was issued in Japan on 30 May 2018, in Australia on 6 July 2018 and in New Zealand on 20 July 2018. It includes studio versions of 17 hits from the years 1993 to 2013. The album artwork consists of a photo taken during Dion's previous 2017 tour. The Best So Far... 2018 Tour Edition peaked at number four in Australia and New Zealand, and number 24 in Japan.

Wa to Yo is the eleventh studio album by Japanese-American singer-songwriter Ai. It was released on June 7, 2017, through EMI Records and Universal Music Group. Featuring two discs, the Wa disc was recorded in Japanese with traditional Japanese sounds while the Yo disc was recorded in English with R&B and hip hop sounds. The album features guest appearances and collaborations from Kodō, Jinmenusagi, Himekami, Jamaican musician Junior Reid, American singer-songwriter Eric Bellinger, and American singer-songwriter Chris Brown.
Kansha!!!!! - Thank You for 20 Years New and Best is the fourth greatest hits album by Japanese-American singer-songwriter Ai. It was released on November 6, 2019, through EMI Records and Universal Music Group. Released in two physical configurations, disc one contains three new songs and six re-recorded gospel tracks of her previous hit singles while disc two contains material previously not available outside of Asia. The album served as Ai's first international compilation release.
"After the Storm" is a song recorded by Japanese-American singer-songwriter Ai featuring Malaysian-Australian singer Che'Nelle. The song is produced by Fifty1 Fifty and Ai, was released as a promotional single on May 22, 2013, by EMI Records Japan from her tenth studio album, Moriagaro. The song was used for the Japanese release of the Hong Kong martial arts film The Grandmaster. "After the Storm" is a pop ballad and is Ai's first promotional single to be recorded fully in English.
