Gary Anthony James Webb, known professionally as Gary Numan, is an English musician. He entered the music industry as frontman of the new wave band Tubeway Army. After releasing two studio albums with the band, he released his debut solo studio album The Pleasure Principle in 1979, topping the UK Albums Chart. His commercial popularity peaked in the late 1970s and early 1980s with hits including "Are 'Friends' Electric?" and "Cars". Numan maintains a cult following. He has sold over 10 million records.
The Chameleon is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #1. The Chameleon is the first ever antagonist of the superhero Peter Parker / Spider-Man. He is a master of disguises who is known for his ability to impersonate virtually anybody. The character is also the half-brother of Kraven the Hunter. This relationship helped evolve him as a major villain compared to his original depiction of being just a solo villain in the original issue of The Amazing Spider-Man. He has also been a member of the Sinister Six and the Sinister Twelve at various points in his history.
Pnau is an Australian dance music trio originating from Sydney. The trio, a duo before 2016, consists of the musicians Nick Littlemore, Peter Mayes and Sam Littlemore (production), with the latter joining in 2016. Pnau first gained recognition through their 1999 debut album Sambanova, which later won an ARIA Music Awards for Best Dance Release. Their third album, Pnau (2007), brought them further critical acclaim and success. Pnau is also recognised for a heavily publicised apprenticeship under the musician Elton John, who signed the duo after listening to the Pnau album. Several of Pnau's later projects have had John's involvement, such as the album Soft Universe and an album of Pnau recreations of Elton John's hits called Good Morning to the Night.

Additional drums are sampled from "Good Old Music" by Funkadelic. Chameleon Dreams is the second solo album by New Zealand-born singer-songwriter Margaret Urlich, which was released in September 1992. The first single from the album, "Boy in the Moon" (August), reached the top ten on the New Zealand singles chart. The album peaked at No. five in Australia and No 18 in New Zealand and achieved platinum status in both countries. Three other singles were issued from the album, "Human Race", "(I Don't Want to be) Second Best" and "Burnt Sienna" (July).

Kid Chameleon is a 1992 platform game developed and published by Sega released for the Sega Genesis. In the game, a boss character with artificial intelligence in a virtual reality video game begins abducting players and the main protagonist Casey goes in to beat the game and rescue them. He does this by using masks to shapeshift into different characters in order to use different abilities. It was later released in Japan. After its initial release in 1992 for the Genesis, it was later re-released a number of times in the 2000s, including part of the Sega Smash Pack 2 for the PC in 2000, the Sega Genesis Collection for the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 in 2006, as a digital release on the Wii's Virtual Console in 2007, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2009 and for the Sega Forever service in 2017.
Michela Pace is a Maltese singer who won the inaugural season of Malta's version of The X Factor in 2019. As a prize for her win, she represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song "Chameleon" written by Joacim Persson; Paula Winger; Borislav Milanov and Johan Alkenäs, where she finished in 14th place with 107 points. Pace has also secured a contract with Sony Music Italy. She is of Greek and Italian descent.

The song was revealed on 10 March 2019, along with the music video, while its official release was on 4 April 2019. The singer was selected to represent her country at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest through winning the first edition of X Factor Malta. This song was assigned to the singer after that TV show had ended. It was performed during the second semi-final on 16 May 2019, and qualified for the final, where it placed 14th with a total of 107 points.
