The Coast Is Clear is the debut album by Canadian indie rock band In-Flight Safety, released on January 24, 2006 on Dead Daisy Records [1] and distributed by Outside Music. The album was recognized by the music industry, with the group winning three awards at the 2006 Nova Scotia Music Awards, including Album of the Year. In 2007, they won three East Coast Music Awards, including Group Recording of the Year for this album. [2] The music video for "Coast Is Clear" was nominated for Video of the Year at the 2007 Juno Awards. [3] Lead vocalist and guitarist John Mullane wrote the lyrics for each song.

Recording

Recorded at a number of studios in Vancouver and Halifax, the album was self-produced by the band. Drums on tracks 1, 2, 7, 9, and 10 were recorded by Laurence Currie at Sonic Temple Studio, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The assistant engineer was Darren van Niekerk. Bass was recorded by Currie at Idea of East, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada with Craig Sperry as assistant engineer. Technical support was provided by Michael Ryan. [4]

Pre-production for the remainder of the album was done by Wayne Livesey at The Rockspace, former home to Little Mountain Sound Studios, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Drums and bass were recorded by Livesey at Mushroom Studios, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Additional recording (also by Livesey) was done at The Shed, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The second engineer was Joel Livesey. [4]

Packaging

Album design was done by In-Flight Safety. The painting of the girl (on the reverse side) is by Andrzej Michael Karwacki. Karen Baer provided the band photo on the inside sleeve. [4]

Plumtree was a Canadian indie rock/power pop band formed in 1993 in Halifax which consisted of sisters Carla and Lynette Gillis, Amanda Braden, Nina Martin, and later Catriona Sturton. The band achieved moderate success during their seven years of activity, completing several tours of Canada and parts of the U.S., as well as releasing three full-length albums, a six track EP, and various singles, before finally disbanding in June 2000. Their single "Scott Pilgrim" was the inspiration for the title character in the graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O'Malley.

In-Flight Safety is a Canadian indie rock band formed in 2003. In-Flight Safety was nominated for a 2007 Juno Award for Video of the Year for "Coast Is Clear". They are currently based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The group consists of vocalist and guitarist John Mullane, drummer Glen Nicholson and is rounded out by friends who appear in the live show. In-Flight Safety released their second full-length album We Are an Empire, My Dear 27 January 2009 in Canada on their own label Night Danger. The band released their third full-length album, Conversationalist on 9 September 2014.

Lights of Endangered Species is the fifth studio album by Matthew Good, released on May 31, 2011. The album's first single, "In a Place of Lesser Men", was released via SoundCloud two months prior on March 21, 2011. Subsequently, "Non Populus" was also released four days later. Mo Kenney Musical artist

Mo Kenney is a Canadian singer/songwriter based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Catching the ear of noted Canadian rocker Joel Plaskett while still in school, Kenney released their first album in 2012, which Plaskett produced. Kenney is known for their lyrical prowess and engaging stage presence. Called "Nova Scotia's rising star" by The Scene magazine, they have toured with Plaskett as well as with Ron Sexsmith. In 2013, their song "Sucker" won the prestigious SOCAN Songwriting Prize.

He often performs with his band The Casual Smokers, and his first full-length studio album, In the Time of the Great Remembering, was released on October 20, 2011. His second record, Birds With Broken Wings, was released September 18, 2015. His third album, Old Stock, was released on June 15th, 2018, and his fourth album, recollection (reimagined), was released on October 15th, 2021.

East is the seventh studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Rutledge, released in 2016 on Outside Music. The album's title has a dual meaning, reflecting both Rutledge's move from Toronto to a new home in the Prince Edward County region of Ontario following his 2014 album Daredevil, and the fact that the album was recorded in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Hillsburn (band) Canadian indie pop band

Hillsburn is an indie pop band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. They have been hailed by several media outlets as one of the east coast of Canada's next big acts and were recently included on CBC's list of '21 Canadian albums we can't wait to hear in 2021'. Hillsburn have released three full-length studio albums, and have won or been nominated for a number of regional and national awards. Their latest record, Slipping Away, was released on May 28, 2021. Slipping Away was produced by Howard Redekopp, who has worked with other notable Canadian acts, including Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers, and Mother Mother.
