The Collection is the second compilation album by Australian band Divinyls, released on 6 December 1993. [1] The album does not include any of their 1980s singles, which were released on a different record label. The album failed to enter the Australian ARIA top 100. [6]

In late 1992, the Divinyls covered The Young Rascals song, "I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore", for the soundtrack to the film Buffy the Vampire Slayer . [7] [8] It was subsequently issued as the lead single from The Collection, in October 1992. The single peaked at No. 19 on the Australian singles charts and spent sixteen weeks in the top fifty. [9] The second single released, "Wild Thing", was recorded for the soundtrack to the Australian comedy film Reckless Kelly (1993). The song reached No. 39 on the Australian singles charts. [10] The third single, a cover of Roxy Music's "Love Is the Drug", was recorded for the soundtrack to Super Mario Bros. . The single failed to enter the top 100. [6]

Divinyls Australian rock band

Divinyls were an Australian rock band that were formed in Sydney in 1980. The band primarily consisted of vocalist Chrissy Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee. Amphlett garnered widespread attention for performing on stage in a school uniform and fishnet stockings, and often used an illuminated neon tube as a prop for displaying aggression towards both band members and the audience. Originally a five-piece, the band underwent numerous line-up changes, with Amphlett and McEntee remaining as core members, before its dissolution in 1996.

"Under the Milky Way" is a single by Australian alternative rock band The Church, released on 15 February 1988 and appears on their fifth studio album Starfish. The song was written by bass guitarist and lead vocalist Steve Kilbey and his then-girlfriend Karin Jansson of Curious (Yellow). It peaked at No. 22 on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart, No. 24 on the United States Billboard Hot 100, No. 25 on the New Zealand Singles Chart and appeared in the Dutch Single Top 100.
