Eid al-Fitr is the earlier of the two official holidays celebrated within Islam. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide because it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-dusk fasting of Ramadan. Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic calendar; this does not always fall on the same Gregorian day, as the start of any lunar Hijri month varies based on when the new moon is sighted by local religious authorities. The holiday is known under various other names in different languages and countries around the world. The day is also known as the First Eid or as the Lesser Eid by some Muslim communities.

Chaand Raat is celebrated festively and passionately by Muslims all over South Asia, and in socio-cultural significance, is comparable to Christmas Eve.

Janur Kuning is a 1980 Indonesian war film directed by Alam Surawidjaja and produced by Abbas Wiranatakusuma. A critical success, Janur Kuning received a nomination and two special awards at the 1980 Indonesian Film Festival. It was screened annually on 1 March between 1980 and 1998, but has since been criticised as an attempt to manipulate history and create a cult with President Suharto in the centre.

In 2023, it received a record for Longest Continuous Ramadan Religion Series from Indonesian World Records Museum.

This film tells the story about Fatmawati, a 70-year-old grandmother who magically gets back into her 20s after taking a photo in a mysterious photo studio. Sweet 20 was released on 25 June 2017 on the event of Eid al-Fitr.

Daniel Mananta and Nirina Zubir hosted this event and the event was attended by the CEO of MNC Group, Hary Tanoesoedibjo. This event was postponed from May to July, due to a collision with Eid al-Fitr.

The inaugural edition of Jakarta Film Week was held on 18 to 21 November 2021 by the Tourism and Creative Economy Department of Jakarta as an effort to support the revival of film industry post the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The festival was held in-person and virtual around Central Jakarta at the CGV Grand Indonesia, Metropole XXI, and Ashley Hotel, also through streaming service Vidio. Actress Shenina Cinnamon was appointed as the festival ambassador.
