Debut Records was an American jazz record company and label founded in 1952 by bassist Charles Mingus, his wife Celia, and drummer Max Roach.
Thaddeus Joseph Jones was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader who has been called "one of the all-time greatest jazz trumpet soloists".
At the Opera House is a 1958 live album by Ella Fitzgerald. The album presents a recording of the 1957 Jazz at the Philharmonic Concerts. This series of live jazz concerts was devised by Fitzgerald's manager Norman Granz; they ran from 1944 to 1983. Featured on this occasion, in 1957, are Fitzgerald and the leading jazz players of the day in an onstage jam session. The first half of the 1990 CD edition includes a performance that was recorded on September 29, 1957, at the Chicago Opera House, whilst the second half highlights the concert recorded on October 7, 1957, at the Shrine Auditorium, in Los Angeles. The original LP obviously included only the mono tracks (#10-18).
Miles Davis and Milt Jackson Quintet/Sextet, also known as Quintet/Sextet is a studio album by Miles Davis and Milt Jackson released by Prestige Records in August 1956. It was recorded on August 5, 1955. Credited to "Miles Davis and Milt Jackson", this was an "all-star" session, and did not feature any of the members of Davis's working group of the time. Jackie McLean only plays on his own compositions.

Jazz at Massey Hall is a live jazz album featuring a performance by "The Quintet" given on 15 May 1953 at Massey Hall in Toronto. The quintet was composed of five leading 'modern' players of the day: Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Charles Mingus, and Max Roach. It was the only time that the five musicians recorded together as a unit, and it was the last recorded meeting of Parker and Gillespie.
Toshiko's Piano is the debut recording of jazz pianist Toshiko Akiyoshi. It was recorded in Japan in 1953 with guitarist Herb Ellis, bassist Ray Brown and drummer J.C. Heard, who were known at the time for their work as pianist Oscar Peterson's rhythm section for Jazz at the Philharmonic concerts. The album was released as a 10 inch LP album on Norman Granz's Norgran Record label. Later 12 inch LP and (Japanese) CD re-issues also include all 4 Akiyoshi tracks from 1957's Verve Records recording, Toshiko and Leon Sash at Newport. The cover artwork is by David Stone Martin.
Domino is an album by American jazz saxophonist Roland Kirk, released on Mercury Records in November 1962. It was reissued in 2000 on Verve with bonus tracks featuring sessions with Herbie Hancock. It includes Kirk's tribute to Thelonious Monk and Charles Mingus, "Where Monk and Mingus Live", in a medley with the former's "Let's Call This".
The Astaire Story is a 1952 album by Fred Astaire. The album was conceived of and produced by Norman Granz, the founder of Clef Records, who was also responsible for the Jazz at the Philharmonic concerts, at which all of the musicians on the album had performed.
Today and Tomorrow is the fourth album by jazz pianist McCoy Tyner. It was recorded for the Impulse! label in 1963 and 1964. It features performances by Tyner with Jimmy Garrison, Albert Heath, John Gilmore, Thad Jones, Frank Strozier, Butch Warren and Elvin Jones.
Bud Powell Trio is a studio album by jazz pianist Bud Powell, released on Roost in 1957, featuring two sessions that Powell recorded in 1947 and 1953. The 1947 session was Powell's first studio recording as leader, and was originally released as a 10" LP called The Bud Powell Trio.
The Fabulous Shirley Bassey is Shirley Bassey's third studio album, her debut for Columbia, and was recorded with Geoff Love and his orchestra. The album peaked at #12 in the UK album chart in early 1961. Released in 1959, this was the first studio album from Shirley Bassey with completely new material. Her two previous albums issued on the Philips label were collections of new recordings and previously released material, recorded between 1956 and 1958.
Kenny Dorham Quintet is a jazz studio album by trumpeter Kenny Dorham. It was his debut album as a leader and was released in 1953, on the Debut label as DLP-9 and originally included only tracks 1 to 3 and 5 to 7. Tracks 4 and 8 were released as bonus tracks on 12-inch LP OJC-113, whilst the CD release featured the previously unreleased tracks 9, 10 and 11. According to the liner notes on the CD back cover "Label head Charles Mingus decided not to release them at the time and they languished in the tape vault for almost 40 years, until their fortuitous discovery in late 1992".
Time Remembered is a live album by jazz pianist Bill Evans with Chuck Israels and Larry Bunker partially recorded at the Shelly Manne's club in Hollywood, California in May 1963, but not released until 1983 on the Milestone label as a 16-track double LP. It would be later reissued on CD in 1999, with only 13 tracks. The trio performances were recorded at the same sessions that produced At Shelly's Manne-Hole (1963) and were first released on Bill Evans: The Complete Riverside Recordings (1984). The four solo performances were recorded in a separate session in April 1962 in New York City. "Some Other Time" was recorded in December 1958, in New York City.
Motor City Scene, also released as Stardust, is an album by American saxophonist Pepper Adams and trumpeter Donald Byrd, recorded in 1960 and released on the Bethlehem label as BCP 6056 featuring Byrd and Adams with Kenny Burrell, Tommy Flanagan, Paul Chambers, and Louis Hayes. It is not to be confused with the identically titled 1959 album on United Artists Records that also featured Tommy Flanagan and Paul Chambers, along with Thad Jones, Billy Mitchell, and Elvin Jones.
The Jazz Experiments of Charlie Mingus is an album by jazz bassist and composer Charles Mingus released on the Bethlehem label. The album is a compilation of tracks originally released by Period Records as two 10-inch LPs entitled Jazzical Moods and co-credited to John LaPorta.
