The Good Life is a role-playing video game developed by Japanese studio White Owls Inc. and published by Playism for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, and released on 15 October 2021. [1] [2]
The game involves playing the role of Naomi Hayward, a journalist from New York who, after accumulating a debt of £30,000,000, has been sent to investigate a small village in the north of England called Rainy Woods believed to have a secret, in which the population is able to transform into cats and dogs. Naomi also eventually learns this ability too. The player must take photographs of various things in the game and upload them on the Internet in order to make money, and is also given many side quests to complete, in addition to the game's main quest. The game was developed by Japanese studio White Owls, and the project was led by Hidetaka Suehiro, the director of Deadly Premonition , and Yukio Futatsugi, the creator of the Panzer Dragoon series. [5] The studio launched a failed crowdfunding campaign on Fig, though a subsequent crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter was successful. [6] While the game was originally set to be published by The Irregular Corporation, Playism announced that it had taken over publishing duties in June 2021. [7] While the game was initially set to be released in 2019, it was delayed several times. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 on October 15, 2021. [8]
The game received "mixed or average reviews" upon release according to review aggregator Metacritic. [9] [10]
20XX is a platform game developed by American studio Batterystaple Games. The early access version was released for Microsoft Windows on Steam on October 12, 2016, and in full on August 16, 2017. PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One versions were released in July 2018. A sequel, 30XX, was released on Steam Early Access on February 17, 2021, and in full on August 9, 2023.
Deadly Premonition is a 2010 open world survival horror video game developed by Access Games. Set in the fictional rural American town of Greenvale, Washington, the story follows FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan as he investigates the murder of an eighteen-year-old woman, which bears similarities to a series of murders across the country. Deadly Premonition was originally released in February 2010 for Xbox 360 and in March 2010 for PlayStation 3; the Xbox 360 version was published by Ignition Entertainment in North America, Marvelous Entertainment in Japan, and Rising Star Games in Europe. Marvelous Entertainment released the PlayStation 3 version exclusively in Japan. A director's cut edition for PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows was released worldwide by Rising Star Games in 2013. A port for the Nintendo Switch, Deadly Premonition: Origins, followed in 2019.
Hidetaka Suehiro, known as SWERY or Swery65, is a Japanese video game director and writer. He was one of the founding members of the game development studio Access Games which is based in Osaka. His roles in the company included director, designer, and writer. He is the director of the games Spy Fiction, Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die. He then left the company in 2016, and he founded his own studio, named White Owls Inc.
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is a 2012 platform game developed and published by Black Forest Games for Microsoft Windows. It is the successor to the 1987 Commodore 64 title The Great Giana Sisters and sequel to the 2009 re-imagining Giana Sisters DS. The game was funded through crowdfunding website Kickstarter, reaching its goal of $150,000.
Earthlock is a role-playing video game developed and published by the Norwegian company Snowcastle Games for Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Wii U. The Xbox One version was launched on September 1, 2016 worldwide. The Windows, OS X, and Linux versions, initially planned for release at the same time as the Xbox One release, were postponed to September 27, 2016. The game is planned to be the first volume of an Earthlock trilogy. The Wii U version was released on September 7, 2017 in Europe, and on September 14, 2017 in North America. A version for the Nintendo Switch was released on March 8, 2018. The game received mixed reviews from critics, who were heavily divided. Some called it a nostalgic throwback with memorable characters, while others panned its design as dated, and its art style, gameplay and/or story as bland or unoriginal.
Yooka-Laylee is a 2017 platform game developed by Playtonic Games and published by Team17. Road Redemption is a vehicular combat racing video game developed by EQ-Games and Pixel Dash Studios. The game is a spiritual successor to the Road Rash series and was released for Windows PC on October 4, 2017. Console versions of Road Redemption were released on November 6, 2018, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Everspace is a 3D space shooter with roguelike elements developed and published by German studio Rockfish Games. It was released in 2017. A sequel, Everspace 2 was released in 2023.
