The Hood Dictionary is the fourth mixtape by American rapper NoCap. It was released on November 19, 2019, by Atlantic Records and Never Broke Again. [1] The mixtape features guest appearances from Quando Rondo, Lil Durk, and Jagged Edge. Meanwhile, the mixtape was handled by a variety of prestigious producers including CashMoneyAP, SephGotTheWaves, Outtatown, Rude Dolph, Jambo, Otxhello, Young Cutta, and YoungKimJ, among others. [1]

Singles

The lead single for the mixtape, "First Day In", was released on September 27, 2019. [2] The second single, "Ghetto Angels (Remix)" featuring Lil Durk and Jagged Edge, was released on September 30, 2019. [3] And, the third and final single for the mixtape, "What You Know", was released on November 15, 2019. [4]

Music videos

The first music video for the song, "Ghetto Angels (Remix)", was released on November 11, 2019. [6] The second music video, "Still Me", was released on November 24, 2019, five days after the mixtape's release. [7] The third music video, "In 4", was released on December 14, 2019. [8] And, the fourth and last music video, "Brag Different", was released on December 19, 2019. [9]

Commercial performance

In the United States, on November 30, 2019, The Hood Dictionary debuted at number 80 on the US Billboard 200 chart on its first week, which became NoCap's second chart entry. [5] The mixtape peaked at number 39 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, which also became NoCap's first entry on the chart overall. [5]

"Go Crazy" is a song by American singer-songwriter Chris Brown and American rapper Young Thug, from their collaborative mixtape Slime & B, released on May 5, 2020. After it became the only charting song from the mixtape, it was officially released as a single on May 19, 2020. The song is a trap-infused R&B record, with production that samples the Showboys's 1986 single "Drag Rap", for which the Showboys are credited as writers. The official remix of the song was released on February 19, 2021, and features fellow American rappers Future, Lil Durk, and Latto.

Never Broke Again, often abbreviated as NBA, is a record label imprint from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, founded by American rapper Kentrell "YoungBoy Never Broke Again" Gaulden, Rodrick "OG 3Three" Jeanpierre and Kyle "Montana" Claiborne in 2015 through Atlantic Records; however, it is now distributed through Universal Music Group with their deal with Motown Records. The group is home to recording artists such as rappers Quando Rondo, NoCap, and several other up and coming artists from Louisiana and Georgia.

The mixtape serves as a follow-up to Quando's first two 2018 releases, Life B4 Fame and Life After Fame. It features guest appearances from NoCap, Shy Glizzy, BlocBoy JB and Polo G. Production on the mixtape was handled by Quay Global, Zaytoven, Tahj Money, Mook On The Beats, JD On Tha Track, Pooh Beatz, and Figurez Made It, among others.
