The Housemaid is an upcoming American psychological thriller film directed by Paul Feig from a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine, based on the 2022 novel of the same name by Freida McFadden. It stars Sydney Sweeney as a young woman with a troubled past who becomes the live-in housemaid for a wealthy family; however, their seemingly perfect life unravels when she discovers their household hides dark secrets beneath the surface. It also stars Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins.
Principal photography took place from January to March 2025 in New Jersey. The film is scheduled to be released by Lionsgate in the United States on December 19, 2025.
The film is directed by Paul Feig and produced by the director, Todd Lieberman and Laura Fischer for Hidden Pictures. Feig. The screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine is based on the 2022 novel of the same name by Freida McFadden. In October 2024, Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried joined as leadig actresses and executive producers alongside McFadden and Alex Young.
