A sea shanty, shanty, chantey, or chanty is a genre of traditional folk song that was once commonly sung as a work song to accompany rhythmical labor aboard large merchant sailing vessels. The term shanty most accurately refers to a specific style of work song belonging to this historical repertoire. However, in recent, popular usage, the scope of its definition is sometimes expanded to admit a wider range of repertoire and characteristics, or to refer to a "maritime work song" in general.

In the United States, "Dreams" was released as the second single from Rumours in March 1977, while in the United Kingdom, the song was released as the third single in June 1977. The group is best known for their singles "Perfect Day ", "Dance Under The Moonlight", "Ma-Ya-Hi" and "Astronaut" and for their television reality series Jamatami: Das Star-Tagebuch, which aired on Super RTL during 2011. Jamatami disbanded on August 24, 2012, after performing a farewell concert to focus on solo activities.

The song refers to the "wellermen", pointing to supply ships owned by the Weller brothers, who were amongst the earliest European settlers of Otago.

In 2021, he released a cover of the folk song "Wellerman", which peaked at the top of the UK Singles Chart and also charted in several other countries.
"A Drop of Nelson's Blood" is a sea shanty, also known as "Roll the old chariot along" The origins are unclear, but the title comes from the line: "A drop of Nelson's blood wouldn't do us any harm". Often described as a "walkaway" or "runaway chorus" or "stamp and go" sea shanty, the song features on the soundtrack of the 2019 film Fisherman's Friends. The chorus comes from the 19th century Salvation Army hymn, 'Roll the old chariot'. This song developed into a shanty.

They are known both for original work and for metal covers of songs not typically associated with the genre. They became popular on YouTube for their authorial song "Make Me Famous" from their album A Gradual Decline In Morale. Dracula was previously the vocalist of Australian heavy metal band Jesterpose, which formed in 2017 and released the EP COVID-19 in 2020.

The chorus of the song is a based on a viral video on TikTok made by Erynn Chambers, intended to satirize country music. The song in turn defends the genre, and lists Chambers as a co-author. Chambers has been encouraging of the song, calling it an "honor and a privilege".

After she paid six TikTokers to promote the song, the song was used in a video of a creator making a Japanese bench, which caused the song to go viral on that platform; this, as well as virality on Spotify caused by it featuring on the platform's "Fresh Finds" playlist, prompted EMI to sign her and her producer Tommy Villiers, and re-release the track under the name Piri & Tommy Villiers. The song appeared on the pair's 21 October 2022 mixtape Froge.mp3.
