The Mellons is an American Psychedelic rock/Baroque pop band formed in 2020 and based at Salt Lake City, Utah. The band consists of Ian Francis (percussion, drums), Denney Fuller (bass, horns), Andrew Beck (vocals, guitar, keys) and Rob Jepson (vocals, guitar, keys). The band are signed to Earth Libraries. The Mellons first album Introducing…The Mellons was released on October 21, 2022. [1]
The band was formed in roughly 2020. Members Andrew Beck and Rob Jepson met during their first year of high school in Provo, Utah. [2] Andrew Beck is a former and early member of Imagine Dragons, [3] and since 2008 going in different acts. After Beck's last solo release in 2019, he and Jepson decided to form a baroque pop band during the COVID-19 pandemic with producer Dennis Fuller and Ian Francis with the writing of their first song "What a Time to be Alive". The band later signed with the indie record label Earth Libraries. [1]
The Mellons are mainly described as 60s psych pop, [1] and baroque pop. [4] The band, sonically in inspired by The Beach Boys album Pet Sounds. [1] Jepson stated that he was introduced from his older siblings to bands like Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, which helped to craft the 60s style from the band. [2] Andrew Christiansen of SLUG Magazine stated that the band sounds similar to the combination of The Beach Boys, The Turtles and Harpers Bizarre. [5]
At the beginning of 2020, The Mellons started to write and record their first album in No. 9 Studios at Salt Lake City. [4] [6] On october 27, 2021, The Mellons released their debut single "So Much To Say" alongside a music video directed by Beck, and filmed by Brennen Bateman. In 2022, the band announced the release of their debut album Introducing... The Mellons! expected on September 16, 2022, and premiered the music video for their single "What a Time to be Alive" on May 20, 2022. [4] The music video was directed by Beck and Shot by Bateman and features a 70s child-like TV show with puppets by Shelby Rickart from Puppets in the City.
On july 28, 2022 the Mellons released their third single from the album, "Hello, Sun". [7]

Beck David Hansen, known mononymously as Beck, is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He rose to fame in the early 1990s with his experimental and lo-fi style, and became known for creating musical collages of wide-ranging genres. He has musically encompassed folk, funk, soul, hip hop, electronic, alternative rock, country, and psychedelia. He has released 14 studio albums, as well as several non-album singles and a book of sheet music.

Sparks is an American pop and rock duo formed by brothers Ron (keyboards) and Russell Mael (vocals) in Los Angeles. Edwin is a Canadian alternative rock singer from Toronto. He is the lead vocalist for the Canadian rock band I Mother Earth, as well as a solo artist. He is also the lead singer for the Canadian supergroup Crash Karma. In 2016, he reunited with I Mother Earth for a series of shows and a tour commemorating the twentieth anniversary of their most commercially successful release, Scenery and Fish.

The Age of the Understatement is the debut album by English supergroup The Last Shadow Puppets, released on 15 April 2008 by Domino Recording Company. It was written between band co-frontmen Alex Turner and Miles Kane in 2006. It was produced in Paris and London by fellow member James Ford, featuring orchestral arrangements composed by Owen Pallett, and performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra. The album artwork features a 1962 black and white picture, by photographer Sam Haskins, depicting a young woman, named Gill, sitting on the floor.

The lyrics describe a love triangle between the narrator, a woman, and another man.

Everything You've Come to Expect is the second album by English supergroup The Last Shadow Puppets, released on 1 April 2016 by Domino Recording Company. It was written by band co-frontmen Alex Turner and Miles Kane in 2014 between London, Paris and Los Angeles. It was produced in Malibu by fellow member James Ford, alongside guest musician Matt Helders, and new bass player, Zach Dawes. Featuring once again string arrangements by Owen Pallett. The album artwork features a photo of singer Tina Turner dancing, as photographed by Jack Robinson Jr. in November 1969, the original picture was modified by illustrator Matthew Cooper, who gave it a gold tint.

Written by frontman Alex Turner, singer-songwriter Alexandra Savior, and produced by James Ford, "Miracle Aligner" is a baroque pop, soul-pop, and sophisti-pop track. Savior described the song as being "obviously about a coke dealer."
Andrew Colin Beck is an American artist and musician. He was an early member of Imagine Dragons, currently a member of the Mellons, and also maintains a career as an illustrator.
