The Motherland Party [1] (Hungarian : A Haza Pártja), formerly known as The Homeland Not For Sale Movement Party (Hungarian : A Haza Nem Eladó Mozgalom Párt) is a Hungarian political party, founded by Árpád Kásler in 2013. The party's headquarters is located in Gyula, Békés County.

Hungarian language language spoken in and around Hungary

Hungarian is a Finno-Ugric language spoken in Hungary and several neighbouring countries. It is the official language of Hungary and one of the 24 official languages of the European Union. Outside Hungary it is also spoken by communities of Hungarians in the countries that today make up Slovakia, western Ukraine (Subcarpathia), central and western Romania (Transylvania), northern Serbia (Vojvodina), northern Croatia, and northern Slovenia. It is also spoken by Hungarian diaspora communities worldwide, especially in North America and in Israel. Like Finnish and Estonian, Hungarian belongs to the Uralic language family. Hungary is a country in Central Europe. Spanning 93,030 square kilometres (35,920 sq mi) in the Carpathian Basin, it borders Slovakia to the north, Ukraine to the northeast, Austria to the northwest, Romania to the east, Serbia to the south, Croatia to the southwest, and Slovenia to the west. With about 10 million inhabitants, Hungary is a medium-sized member state of the European Union. The official language is Hungarian, which is the most widely spoken Uralic language in the world. Hungary's capital and its largest city and metropolis is Budapest. Other major urban areas include Debrecen, Szeged, Miskolc, Pécs and Győr.

In 2017, Árpád Kásler sued 24.hu, Index.hu and 444.hu, because the websites called the party "business party". Later Árpád Kásler won the lawsuit against the 444.hu, 24.hu and the Index.hu websites. [2]

2014 Hungarian Internet tax protests

In late October 2014, anti-government demonstrations were held in Hungary, which were triggered by the government's announcement of a proposal to include the taxation of Internet usage in the Taxation Law, to be in effect from 2015. The ruling right-wing coalition’s larger party, Fidesz made their proposal public on October 21, which is meant to extend the existing telecommunications tax to Internet usage. The proposal designated a 150 HUF/GB tax rate paid by the internet service providers. Later, a cap was proposed: HUF 700 per month (individuals) or HUF 5,000 (companies).

Momentum Movement Hungarian political party

Momentum Movement is a centrist Hungarian political party founded in March 2017. It came to national prominence in January 2017 after organizing a petition against the Budapest bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics, calling for a public referendum on the matter. The petition, which gathered over 266,000 signatures, was successful, but the government cancelled the Olympic bid before a referendum could have been held. After its establishment as a political party, Momentum quickly built a national following, and presently has approximately 4,000 members. The party failed to win any seats in the 2018 Hungarian parliamentary election, but is widely considered the strongest extra-parliamentary party in Hungary, and has been involved in the organization of several political demonstrations.
