The Peoples Decide (Spanish : Los Pueblos Deciden, Galician : Os Pobos Deciden, Basque : Herriek Erabaki, Aragonese : Os Pueblos Deciden, Asturian : Los Pueblos Deciden; LPD) was a Spanish electoral list in the European Parliament election in 2014 made up from left-wing pro-independence parties. It included Basque Country Gather (EH Bildu) together with Gorripidea, [1] [2] the Galician Nationalist Bloc (BNG), [3] Andecha Astur (AA), [4] Puyalón de Cuchas (Puyalón), [5] Unity of the People (UP) and Canarian Nationalist Alternative (ANC). [6]

Contents

The head of the list was Josu Juaristi (EH Bildu) followed by Ana Miranda Paz (BNG). The writer Suso de Toro was also present in the list, within the quota of the BNG. If LPD won a single seat, EH Bildu and the BNG agreed to divide the legislature based on the votes of the list in the Basque Country, Navarre and Galicia.

EH Bildu, short for Euskal Herria Bildu, is a left-wing, Basque nationalist and pro-independence political party and a federation of political parties in Spain. It is the main political force of the abertzale left in Spain. EH Bildu is active in the Spanish Basque Country, that is, in the Basque Autonomous Community and Chartered Community of Navarre, as well as in the Treviño enclave of the Burgos Province. In the French Basque Country, it has an alliance with the party Euskal Herria Bai, with the goal of establishing a state for the Basque Country across the Spanish-French border.

Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu announced that the election would be held one month ahead of schedule, on 25 September 2016, based on the "climate of ungovernability" affecting national politics as a result of the ongoing Spanish government formation negotiations, intending to move the regional election as far away as possible from a possible new general election. This prompted Galician president Alberto Núñez Feijóo to hold the Galician regional election in the same date.

We–Galician Candidacy was an electoral alliance of Galician nationalist parties formed ahead of the 2015 Spanish general election by the Galician Nationalist Bloc (BNG), Galician Coalition (CG), Galicianist Party (PG), Communist Party of the Galician People (PCPG) and Galician Workers' Front (FOGA). The alliance failed in securing parliamentary representation in the general election, leaving the BNG out of the Congress of Deputies for the first time in 20 years.

Republics Now is an electoral alliance formed for the 2019 European Parliament election in Spain by Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC), Basque Country Gather and Galician Nationalist Bloc (BNG) and with Oriol Junqueras as its leading candidate. Ara Més is an electoral alliance formed in the Balearic Islands in April 2022 between More for Mallorca (Més), More for Menorca, Now Eivissa and independent people from Formentera, with the intention to contest the 2023 Spanish general election. In June 2023, following the early election call after the 28 May local and regional elections, the alliance started talks to join Yolanda Díaz's Sumar, reaching an agreement as Sumar Més, with the exception of Ara Eivissa, that rejected to be part of the coalition. Despite this, Ara Eivissa contested the Senate election as part of the Ibiza and Formentera in the Senate coalition. In early 2024, Ara Més joined Ara Repúbliques for the European Parliament election. In their electoral debut Ara Més ended up as the 5th most voted party in the Balearic Islands with 16.457 votes finishing after the far right.
