The Rage: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was both the ninth album and first movie soundtrack by the band Midnight Syndicate, released February 26, 2008. The album features the score to the 2007 horror film, The Rage , composed by Edward Douglas. [1] [2]
After leaving the KNB EFX Group in 2003, Rage , director, Robert Kurtzman moved to Ohio to form Precinct 13 Entertainment. [3] In a 2010 interview, Kurtzman said: When I came to Ohio, I wanted to get The Rage going and I wanted to make it in Ohio with as many Ohioans as I could. I had some of their (Midnight Syndicate) CDs, that I had picked up at conventions. Someone told me that Ed (Douglas) and his partner lived in Cleveland. I called them up and asked them if they wanted to be involved with our independent movie. That is really how the relationship started. [4] At that point, Midnight Syndicate had a well-established reputation in the Halloween/horror music, haunted attraction, and gaming industries having released eight albums that featured a blending of instrumental symphonic music and soundscape. [5] [6] Daniel Hinds of Outburn Music Magazine said that, given their previous work, it made "perfect sense" for them to "feel right at home" scoring movie soundtracks. [7] The album was released and distributed through Entity Productions, one of the largest distributor of Halloween music CDs at the time. [8]
Dread Central praised the soundtrack calling it "a rare piece of music where the sound defines the picture" noting homages to Brad Fiedel's Terminator soundtrack and Goblin's Dawn of the Dead (1978). [9] Daniel Hinds of Outburn called the soundtrack "surprisingly well rounded" and "larger than life" adding that while, because the pacing and arrangement of the album were tied to the film, it "might not be as satisfying as a spin of one of Midnight Syndicate's independent albums," it still made for a "gripping" listen that should "fit nicely next to your John Carpenter soundtracks." Nox Arcana is the American neoclassical dark wave musical project of Joseph Vargo. The group was founded in 2003 as a duo with William Piotrowski, who left the group in 2008 to pursue a career in film score composing and Vargo continued on as a solo act under the name. Piotrowski still acts as Nox Arcana's studio engineer. The name in Latin translates to "mysteries of the night." All of Nox Arcana's music is released independently on the Monolith Graphics label, a publishing company owned by Vargo. With their third album, Nox Arcana became a Billboard Top Ten charting artist in the holiday genre.

The album is designed as a soundtrack to the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game and was produced by Midnight Syndicate at the request of Wizards of the Coast, the company that owns the rights to the Dungeons & Dragons franchise. Midnight Syndicate was approached by game designers at a gaming convention where they had set up stall, and they agreed to produce the album.

HalloWeekends is an annual Halloween event at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. It was introduced in 1997, and takes place during the Halloween season, usually from the second Friday after Labor Day until the Sunday before Halloween, or sometimes into early November. The event is open on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays. It is included free with park admission. As of 2014, HalloWeekends features 11 haunted houses and nighttime scare zones, and there are several children's attractions including a parade that takes place on the main midway. It is advised that children under 13 years old be accompanied by an adult. HalloWeekend's yearly slogan is "All You Fear is Here!". Other Cedar Fair parks including Dorney Park, Valley Fair, and Worlds of Fun all have formerly used the HalloWeekends name. The name has changed to Halloween Haunt at all 3 parks. Cedar Point is the only Cedar Fair park that still uses the HalloWeekends name.

The theme of A Time Forgotten centers around a once-thriving Victorian-era hotel that has suffered a fire and is now haunted by its past residents. The album also included an original song written and performed by Destini entitled, My Last Goodbye, and an electro dance remix of Farewell Forever from The Dark Masquerade EP by Pat Berdysz of Encoder.
