(The Whole is Greater Than) The Sum of Its Parts is the sixth studio album by British electronic music artist Chicane. It was released on 26 January 2015 by Modena Records and Armada Music. [3]

The album debuted at number 44 on the UK Albums Chart, selling 1,987 copies in its first week. [4]

Background

On 28 July 2014, Bracegirdle announced that the title of his then-upcoming sixth studio album would be (The Whole is Greater than) The Sum of Its Parts on the ninth volume of his monthly radio podcast show Chicane Presents Sun:Sets on 28 July 2014. [5] The title directly refers to a quote recorded by Greek philosopher, Aristotle. [6]

The album received moderate reviews upon release, with The Irish Times garnering it 3 stars out of 5, claiming "it’s precisely what you might expect from a Chicane album". [2]

Behind the Sun is the second studio album by British electronic music artist Chicane. It was released on 27 March 2000 through Xtravaganza Recordings. The album features collaborations with Tracy Ackerman, Máire Brennan, Justine Suissa, and Bryan Adams, including its singles "Saltwater", "Don't Give Up", "No Ordinary Morning" / "Halcyon", and "Autumn Tactics". Upon release, it charted at number 10 in the United Kingdom, 7 in New Zealand, 15 in Australia, and was certified gold in the UK. The album is described by Chicane in the liner notes as a reflection on "a year in the life of Chicane".

Like "Offshore", "Sunstroke" is heavily based on the track, "Love on a Real Train" by Tangerine Dream. The Disco Citizens "On the Train" mix is a reference to this.

Twenty is a compilation album by British electronic dance music act Chicane, released on 29 July 2016 through Modena Records The album is in two parts; the first half being a remix album, and the second being a greatest hits compilation. However another greatest hits album, The Best of Chicane: 1996–2008, has been previously released. Exclusive songs are featured on the album, including its single "Carry Me Home", a rework of the song of the same name by gospel house group Gloworm. The album's title refers to Chicane's twentieth anniversary in the music industry.
