Thetis was launched at Chittagong in 1813. At some point she was renamed Countess of Loudoun (or Countess of Loudon, or erroneously Countess of London) for Flora Mure-Campbell, Marchioness of Hastings, Countess of Loudoun. [2] She wrecked in early November 1816 off Palawan.
Countess of Loudon was admitted to the Registry of Great Britain in 1814. [3]
Countess of Loudoun appears in the Register of Shipping for 1815 with Hammond, master and owner, and trade London–Île de France [4] The next year her trade was London−India
Countess of Loudon was sailing from Bengal to China with a cargo of cotton when she struck a shoal during the night in early November 1816. She went over the shoal but was bilged. The water rose to her ports and the crew had to abandon her. She was sailing in company with Susan, which saved Countess's crew. [5] < [6]
A number of vessels have been named Alexander:
Frederick and Maria was launched in 1810 at Chittagong as the country ship Harriett Shakespeare, and quickly renamed. She visited Port Jackson in 1811, and otherwise traded in the Far East. She was reported to have disappeared in a hurricane in 1817. However, the report was in error and she continued to trade with India. Her last voyage appears to have occurred in 1819, though she is listed for some years after that.
Baring was launched at Calcutta in 1805 as Alexander Brodie. Her owners sold her to Portuguese interests that named her Asia Felix. They in turn sold her to British owners in 1809. The British owners renamed her Baring. She made one voyage for the British East India Company (EIC) between 1811 and 1812.
Caroline was launched at Calcutta in 1805. She made one voyage for the British East India Company (EIC). Thereafter, she became a London-based transport, sailing between England and India under a licence from the EIC. She was wrecked in 1816.
Cornwallis was built probably at Surat around 1789, or possibly Demaun in 1790. Her name was originally Britannia, but it was changed to Cornwallis shortly before her completion. She served for some years in India as a country ship, before transferring her registry to Britain in 1797. She then served in private trade between Britain and India until 1809 or so when she transferred her registry back to Bombay. Thereafter she served as a country ship, though in both 1810 and again in 1817 she performed a voyage to Britain for the British East India Company. Thereafter she apparently continued to serve as a country ship with homeport of Bombay. She burnt there in June 1841 as she was about to take a cargo of cotton to China.
Lucy Maria or Lucy and Maria was launched at Calcutta in 1801. She made one voyage to England carrying rice from Bengal on behalf of the British East India Company (EIC). She was seized at Amboyna in 1804 and then sailed as the Dutch ship Victoria. The British recaptured her in 1806 and new owners renamed her Troubridge and later renamed her Lucy Maria. As Troubridge she served as a transport for two invasions, that of Mauritius in 1810 and Java in 1811. She was broken up in 1821.
Countess of Sutherland was launched in 1801 at Tittaghur on the Hooghly River, about 15 miles upstream from Calcutta. She made one voyage from Calcutta to England for the British East India Company in 1801–1802. The French captured her in 1803 as she was sailing from Bengal to China. They used her as a hulk until she was broken up c.1821.
Emma was launched at Calcutta in 1813. From 1814 she made several voyages between India and England under a license from the British East India Company (EIC). A hurricane wrecked her on 4 January 1821 at Table Bay, Cape of Good Hope.
Radnor was launched on 9 September 1813 at Sulkea, Calcutta. She then sailed to England.
Susan was launched at Calcutta in 1813. She initially traded in the East Indies as a country ship, and with Britain under license from the British East India Company (EIC). Between 1829 and 1831 she made two voyages for the EIC. Then between 1834 and 1836 she made four voyages transporting convicts, two to New South Wales, and two to Tasmania. She foundered in 1846 as she was sailing between London and the Cape of Good Hope.
Fairlie was launched at Calcutta in 1810 and sailed to England. There she became a regular ship for the British East India Company (EIC). Including her voyage to England, she made four voyages for the EIC. From around 1821 on she became a Free Trader, continuing to trade with India under a license from the EIC. She also made two voyages transporting convicts to New South Wales (1834), and Tasmania (1852). She made several voyages carrying immigrants to South Australia, New South Wales, and British Guiana. She foundered in November 1865.
Lord Cathcart was launched at Jarrow in 1808. Between 1815 and 1819 she traded with the East Indies and India. She was trading with Quebec when she foundered in 1821 in the Atlantic.
Welton was launched at Hull in 1809. She first traded between Hull and Quebec and then later with South America and the Caribbean. Lastly, she traded with India. She was lost in 1817 at Bengal.
Dorah was launched at Chittagong in 1816. She sailed between India and Britain under a license from the British East India Company until she wrecked in 1821.
Marchioness Wellesley was launched at Calcutta in 1805. She initially sailed as a country ship, i.e., trading east of the Cape of Good Hope. She participated in the 1811 British military expedition to Java. In 1815 she sailed to England and then sailed between England and India under a license from the British East India Company (EIC). She was broken up in 1821 or 1824.
Woodford was launched in 1815 at Whitby as a West Indiaman. Between 1816 and 1817 she made two voyages to the Indian Ocean or the East Indies, sailing under a license from the British East India Company (EIC). She was wrecked at Laeso in November 1837.
HMS Comet was launched in 1807 as a Thais-class fireship of the Royal Navy. In 1808 the class were re-rated as sloops, and in 1811 they were re-rated as 20-gun sixth rates. Comet participated in one action that resulted in her crew being awarded the Naval General Service Medal, and some other actions and captures. The Navy sold her in 1815. In 1816 she became an East Indiaman, sailing under a license from the British East India Company (EIC). She sailed between the United Kingdom and Ceylon. It was on one of these journeys that she was wrecked on Cole House Point on the River Thames on 9 August 1828.
Resource was launched in Calcutta in 1804 as a country ship; that is, she traded out of India but only east of the Cape of Good Hope. In 1807 the French captured her, but she returned to British ownership. She participated as a transport in the British invasion of Java. After 1813 she traded between Britain and India under a license from the British East India Company (EIC). From about the mid-1830s she traded primarily between Britain and Australia, and in 1839 she transported immigrants to South Australia. In 1843 she started sailing between Britain and Quebec until December 1846 when her crew had to abandon her at sea while on a voyage back to Britain from Quebec.

David Scott was launched at Bombay in 1801. She was a "country ship", i.e., she generally traded east of the Cape of Good Hope. Between 1802 and 1816 she made five voyages between India and the United Kingdom as an "extra ship" for the British East India Company (EIC). Thereafter she traded between Britain and India under a license from the EIC. A fire destroyed her at Mauritius on 12 June 1841.
