Things We Do for Love is the sixth studio album by the Swedish new wave band The Sounds and was released in 2020 by Arnioki Records.
With most of the band members having started families since the release of the previous studio album Weekend in 2013, The Sounds went into a hiatus of seven years. In 2017, they released an EP, The Tales That We Tell, but were focused more on personal matters than on songwriting. Guitarist and keyboardist, Jesper Anderberg took a three-years break to study computer engineering. After the release of the EP, the band continued writing new tracks "and some of the songs that didn’t fit on the EP were saved for this album that we knew eventually was going to come out," said Anderberg. [1] [3] He also revealed that the track "Dreaming of You" was inspired by Arcade Fire. Unlike the previous The Sounds albums that had a set timeframe for writing, the creation of Things We Do for Love was stretched out over the years. Originally scheduled to be released with a tour in early 2020, the release of Things We Do for Love had to be postponed due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic. [3]

The album received mostly favourable international reviews. Göteborgs-Posten wrote that the song "Dreaming of You" was "the perfect mix of ABBA, Roxette and Ace of Base" whereas the title track "Things We Do For Love" was new wave that was highly reminiscent of Blondie. The reviewer criticised though that while singer Maja Ivarsson was "cool as ever" on this release, the rest of the band remained somewhat "anonymous". [2] According to AllMusic , this album was The Sounds' best album since the 2011 release Something to Die For , signalling that "growth is possible nearly two decades into a career". The review cited influences of Ultravox and the Beach Boys as well as Depeche Mode. [1] The Finnish Kulttuuri-Toimitus found that while Things We Do For Love could not match the bands debut album Living in America and could not live up to the standards of its opening track, it was still versatile in its "electronic darkness". The track "Bonnie and Clyde" was noted to stand out for being calm and not as swirling as the rest of the songs on the album. [5] The reviewer for Borås Tidning was more reluctant. He called the album a "subtle comeback" and concluded that "Things We Do for Love never reaches the majestic heights that the British inspirers did". [4]

My Truth is the second studio album by the Swedish singer Robyn. It was released on 17 May 1999 by BMG Sweden. Robyn collaborated with the producers Lindström & Ekhé, Christian Falk, Billy Mann, Thomas Rusiak and Masters at Work on the album. A pop, R&B and soul record, My Truth is an autobiographical album for which Robyn co-wrote all fourteen songs. Some of its lyrics reflect on the singer's fall 1998 abortion, which became controversial when RCA Records began planning a North American release. When Robyn refused to change the album after the label's request, plans to release My Truth outside Sweden were cancelled.
Mauro Scocco is a Swedish pop artist of Italian descent. He has been described as "one of the sharpest songwriters in Sweden". Scocco was the singer for the pop group Ratata (1980–83) transformed into a duo with Johan Ekelund (1983–89). After Ratata, Scocco has continued as a solo artist since. In 2014, he cooperated with Plura Jonsson releasing a joint album as Mauro & Plura.

Dance Love Pop is the third studio album by Swedish singer Agnes, released originally on 29 October 2008 in Sweden. This was Agnes' first studio album since 2006 and her comeback to the music stage. The album is written and produced by Swedish songwriter Anders Hansson and geared towards the dance and club genre. When released the first single "On and On" it immediately showed a clear change of artistic direction for her music. This was clearly observed by the critics who all homaged her new musical style. In Sweden, a deluxe edition of the album titled Dance Love Pop: The Love Love Love Edition was released, featuring the original 10 tracks plus new song "Love Love Love", of which Agnes competed with in the Swedish drafts for Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow. The deluxe edition also included remixes and music videos of the album's singles and re-entered the official Swedish Top 60 Album Chart peaking at number 12. A re-release of the album was also made in France, where the "Edition Collector" was released on 18 January 2010 and peaked at forty-seven.
First Signs of Frost is an English post-hardcore/tech rock band from South East London. Forming in July 2004, the four piece originally conformed by songwriter / guitarist and vocalist Owen Hughes-Holland along with guitarist Adam Mason, bassist Dan Oehlman and drummer William Gates. After embarking on numerous tours the band made a significant impact on the UK's underground rock scene.

"Lena Anthem" is a song by Swedish singer Lena Philipsson from her ninth studio album Det gör ont en stund på natten men inget på dan (2004). It was released as the album's third single on 11 October 2004 through Columbia and Sony Music. Written by Thomas "Orup" Eriksson and produced by Anders Hansson, "Lena Anthem" is a disco song with synthesizer instrumentation and interpolations of Philipsson's 1987 single "Dansa i neon". Lyrically, the song contains exaggerated and tongue-in-cheek statements that proclaim her greater than her rivals.

"On the Low" is a song by Swedish singer Tove Styrke from her third studio album, Sway (2018). Styrke wrote the song with Elof Loelv, who handled the production. It stood as one of the first songs written for the album and was previewed by Styrke while touring in the spring of 2018. The song was released as the album's fourth single on 6 April 2018 through Sony Music. Musically, it is a downtempo pop song that Styrke sings with whispered and falsetto vocals over a production consisting of a minimal beat and bird calls. The song's lyrics narrate the protagonist's desire to be in a relationship while her partner prefers to keep it casual.
En gång i tiden is the second studio album by Swedish singer Benjamin Ingrosso, released on 15 January 2021 by TEN Music Group. Ingrosso's first album in Swedish, he is credited as a co-producer on every song. Dealing with themes of love, friendship, and childhood, Ingrosso described the album as an homage to 1990s pop, with influences from Orup, Mauro Scocco, and Lisa Nilsson. In mid-2020, Ingrosso was a contestant on the Swedish music reality series Så mycket bättre; two of his covers from the series are included on the track listing, including "Långsamt farväl", originally by Nilsson. The lyrics of "Längst inne i mitt huvud" were taken from a poem by Swedish writer Barbro Lindgren. "Flickan på min gata", written when Ingrosso was 12–13 years old, was released as a single on 11 January 2021.
