The website was taken offline temporarily on September 1, 2012, in protest of the Moral and National Education controversy and supporting the Scholarism movement. [2] The message "our government should consider the voice of those Scholarism kids and 90 thousand protesters on the streets" was displayed on the webpage instead. [10] The website included a blue ribbon in its logo after the attack on reporter Kevin Lau. In January 2025, a US regional court ruled against the owner of ThisAV in absentia, and requested the transfer of ownership for both missav and thisav's .com domain name to the Japanese corporation Will.
