Thulhiriya is a village in the Kegalle District, Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka.
In 1968 the government established the state-owned Thulhiriya Textile Mill, it was privatised to Bombay Dyne in 1980 and then Kabool Lanka until 2003. This was the largest textile mill in Sri Lanka. The mill was constructed in an area of 14 acres and under one roof. [1] [2] In 2006 MAS Holdings established a fabric park in Thulhiriya, the country's first privately owned apparel intensive free trade zone. [3] The fabric park spans 66.6 ha (165 acres) and provides employment to over 8,200 people. [3] [4] Since it was established a further eight companies have set up factories in the fabric park. [4]
Thulhiriya has well-established road and railway links. The village is located on the A6 (Colombo - Kurunegala) highway and near the Alawwa railway station, which is on the Main Line (Colombo to Badulla).

Maradana College of Technology is the oldest technical college in Sri Lanka. Formally known as the Ceylon Technical College which was an institution of higher education for Technical and Scientific fields in Ceylon and a government department. It was established as the Government Technical College in 1893 at Maradana, Colombo. In 1906 with renamed as Ceylon Technical College, it was the center for study of science such as chemistry, physics, biology and all technical training and development special in the areas of civil, electrical and mechanical engineering. The Maradana Technical College Building has become a landmark of Colombo.

Hayleys Fabric PLC, formerly known as Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills, is a knitted fabric manufacturing company in Sri Lanka. Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills was founded in 1993 as a joint venture between Hayleys and MGT Knitting Mills of Australia. The company was listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in 2003. A fraud incident which was dubbed the biggest in a listed company in Sri Lanka rocked the company in 2011. The company adopted its current name, Hayleys Fabric in 2015. Hayleys Fabric acquired South Asia Textiles Ltd for LKR3.9 billion from Ambeon Holdings in 2021. As a result of the acquisition, Hayleys Fabric became the largest fabric manufacturer in Sri Lanka by exceeding the processing capacity of its closest competitor, Teejay Lanka. Hayleys Fabric is one of the LMD 100 companies in Sri Lanka.
