In Australia, sheep stations are usually in the south-east or south-west of the country. In New Zealand the Merinos are usually in the high country of the South Island. These properties may be thousands of square kilometres in size and run low stocking rates to be able to sustainably provide enough feed and water for the stock.

It is located about 26 kilometres (16 mi) north east of Greenough and 28 kilometres (17 mi) east of Geraldton in the Mid West region of Western Australia. The name Tibradden is taken from the name of an estate in Ireland near Dublin. [1]

Greenough is a historical settlement situated in a floodplain 400 kilometres north of Perth, Western Australia and 24 kilometres south of Geraldton on the Brand Highway. The settlement's historical buildings are mostly built of local limestone and date to the second half of the 19th century. A sizeable collection of these are owned and managed by the National Trust of Australia. A remarkable feature of the Greenough Flats is its windswept trees, some of which are bent a full 90 degrees due to the prevailing coastal winds.

The property comprising 40,000 acres (16,187 ha) had been established in 1852 [1] and was owned by John S. Davis, J. P. Walcott and M. Logue who dissolved their partnership in 1854. [2] The land was divided with Davis' portion retaining the name of Tibradden [3] comprising approximately 25,000 acres (10,000 ha), Walcott naming his Miininooka and Logue calling his Ellendale. [1]
