"Tiff" is a song by Nigerian singer-songwriter Simi. Produced by Oscar, the song is regarded as Simi's breakthrough into mainstream entertainment. [1]

Simisola "Simi" Ogunleye is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Simi started her career as a gospel singer, releasing her debut studio album in 2008, titled Ogaju. She gained prominence in 2014 after releasing "Tiff", a song that was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015. Simi is currently signed to X3M Music. She released her second studio album Simisola on September 8, 2017. Her third studio album Omo Charlie Champagne, Vol. 1 was released to coincide with her thirty-first birthday on April 19, 2019.

Background

Tiff was released on 9 June 2014 as the first of two singles, with the later titled "E No Go Funny". [2] The video for the song was directed by Josh Clarke and was uploaded to YouTube on 30 August 2014. [3]

Critical reception

Upon its release, "Tiff" was met with positive reviews amongst music critics. [4] The song was nominated in the "Best Alternative Song" category at The Headies 2015. [5]

The Headies 2015

The Headies 2015 was the 10th edition of The Headies. It was held on January 1, 2016, at the Landmark Events Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. Themed "Flip the Script", the event was hosted by Bovi and Kaffy. It was previously scheduled to hold on December 30, 2015, but the organizers of the event postponed it to January 1, 2016 without citing any reason. Olamide won a total of four awards, while Timi Dakolo won three. Wizkid was nominated seven times across the twenty-one award categories. 2face Idibia was honored with the Hall of Fame award, while Don Jazzy received the Special Recognition award. Reekado Banks won the Next Rated award. His win was criticized by music critics, who challenged the "fairness of the award process".

Panshak Zamani, better known as Ice Prince, is a Nigerian hip hop recording artist and actor. He rose to fame after releasing "Oleku", one of Nigeria's most remixed songs of all time. He won the 2009 Hennessy Artistry Club Tour. His debut studio album Everybody Loves Ice Prince was released in 2011. It was supported by three singles: "Oleku", "Superstar" and "Juju". In 2013, Ice Prince released Fire of Zamani as his second studio album. The album contained the singles "Aboki", "More", "Gimme Dat" and "I Swear". On 1 July 2015, Ice Prince was announced as the vice president of Chocolate City. He held the position until he left the label in 2016.

Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, better known by his stage name Vector, is a Nigerian rapper and songwriter. He has released three studio albums, including State of Surprise and The Second Coming (2012). In anticipation of his second studio album, he released a mixtape titled Bar Racks. "Lafiaji" which was released in December, 2016. He also released a mixtape in October 2018, "The Rap Dialogue" in an effort to keep the spirit of Nigerian hip-hop alive

Kukere 2011 single by Iyanya

"Kukere" is a song by Nigerian singer Iyanya. It was released as the lead single from his second studio album, Desire (2013). Upon its release, the song peaked at number 1 on Top FM's May Chart, Soundcity's Viewers Choice, Rhythm FM, and The Beat 99.9 FM's Blackberry Top Ten Countdown. Moreover, it peaked at number 2 on Radio Port Harcourt. CEO Dancers performed the song during their performance on Britain's Got Talent. To further promote the album in London, Cokobar and Iyanya held the Kukere Queen Competition. Participants of the competition were asked to upload a dance video of themselves and state three reasons why they deserve to win.

Clarence Peters is a Nigerian music video director, filmmaker and cinematographer. He is the founder and CEO of Capital Dream Pictures, a production company that specialises in the realms of the performing arts, film and video. He is also the founder and CEO of Capital Hill Records, a record label home to Chidinma, Tha Suspect and Illbliss. He was ranked 2nd on Channel O's list of the Top 10 Most Visionary Music Video Directors. In 1998, he was involved in a Mobil-sponsored music video for a documentary on AIDS. He directed 40 episodes of the TV series Everyday People. Peters has directed music videos for recording artists across an array of genres and generations, including Darey, Durella, and Wizkid. In 2012, he shot the music video for Shuga's theme song, which was recorded by Boneye from P-Unit, Banky W., Wizkid and L-Tido. Peters has also shot a good number of documentaries, TV commercials, short films, and TV features. In April 2014, Absolut Vodka honoured him for his creativity.

Damini Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, is a Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter. He rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing the lead single "Like to Party" from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E (2013).

Ayo is the self-titled second studio album by Nigerian singer Wizkid. It was released on September 17, 2014, by Starboy Entertainment and Empire Mates Entertainment. It is the follow-up to his debut album, Superstar (2011). The long-awaited album was postponed twice due to difficulty in track selection. Preceding the album's release were six singles: "Jaiye Jaiye", "On Top Your Matter", "One Question", "Joy", "Bombay" and "Show You The Money". As one of the executive producers of the album, Wizkid collaborated with record producers such as Sarz, Shizzi, Uhuru, Del B, Dokta Frabz, Maleek Berry, Legendury Beatz and Spellz. The album features guest appearances from Femi Kuti, Seyi Shay, Yemi Sax, Akon, Banky W., Phyno, Tyga and Wale. Ayo was met with mixed reviews from music critics, who had a difference of opinion about the album. Some critics complimented the album's production, song arrangement, and sound quality, while others were disenchanted with its lyrical theme.

Korede Bello

Adekunle Gold Nigerian singer, songwriter

Adekunle Kosoko, professionally known as Adekunle Gold, is a Nigerian highlife singer, songwriter and graphic designer. He gained widespread attention after releasing the 2015 hit single "Sade", a highlife cover of One Direction’s "Story of My Life". In 2015, he signed a record deal with YBNL Nation and released his debut studio album Gold, which debuted at number 7 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Gold was preceded by the release of three singles: "Sade", "Orente" and "Pick Up". Adekunle Gold revealed to Nigerian Entertainment Today that prior to signing with YBNL, he designed the label's official logo and completed other designs for Lil Kesh, Viktoh and Olamide.

Falz Nigerian rapper

Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter and actor. He began his career while in secondary school after forming a group called "The School Boys" with his friend before his professional career as a music artist began in 2009. Falz became more well-known after his song "Marry Me" won him a nomination in the "Best Collaboration of The Year" category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He was also nominated in the "Best Rap Act of The Year" and "Best New Act to Watch" categories.

"Caro" is an afropop song collaboratively recorded by Nigerian recording artists L.A.X and Wizkid. Released as the first official recording by Starboy Entertainment, the song was added as a bonus on Wizkid's album Ayo.

Innocent Udeme Udofot, better known as MC Galaxy, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He rose to fame after winning the Davido dance competition in 2012. He has worked with Tspize, Swizz Beatz, Uhuru and Shizzi.

Shasha Damilola Alesh better known by his stage name Dice Ailes, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and rapper. In July 2014, he signed a record deal with Chocolate City. He was nominated for Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2016. In 2016, TooXclusive ranked his breakthrough single "Miracle" third on its list of the "Top 10 Songs for the month of October". In 2017, tooXclusive named him as "one of the sixteen artists you need to know.
