Her discography consists of one extended play, ten singles (including eight as featured artist), and twelve soundtrack appearances. She debuted as a member of South Korean girl group Girls' Generation under S.M. Entertainment in August 2007 and has since achieved immense popularity on the Asian music scene. Extended play musical recording longer than a single, but shorter than a full album

An extended play record, often referred to as an EP, is a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single, but is usually unqualified as an album or LP. EPs generally contain a minimum of four tracks and maximum of six tracks, and are considered "less expensive and time-consuming" for an artist to produce than an album. An EP originally referred to specific types of vinyl records other than 78 rpm standard play (SP) and LP, but it is now applied to mid-length CDs and downloads as well.

Single (music) type of music release usually containing one or two tracks

In the music industry, a single is a type of release, typically a song recording of fewer tracks than an LP record or an album. This can be released for sale to the public in a variety of different formats. In most cases, a single is a song that is released separately from an album, although it usually also appears on an album. Typically, these are the songs from albums that are released separately for promotional uses such as digital download or commercial radio airplay and are expected to be the most popular. In other cases a recording released as a single may not appear on an album.

Gaon Album Chart, part of Gaon Music Chart, is a national chart that ranks the best-selling albums, including mini and single albums, in South Korea, provided by the Korea Music Content Industry Association. It has been tracking sales since the beginning of 2010 and launched in February the same year as part of the Gaon Music Chart. The Gaon Digital Chart is the music industry standard record chart in South Korea for singles, provided by the Korea Music Content Industry Association and published weekly by the Gaon Music Chart. The chart provides rankings on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis, which are based on an aggregate of downloads, streaming and background music. In addition to rank ranking all songs, it also supplies separate rankings for domestic and international releases. It started tracking sales in 2009, which were published the following February. It is compiled from online data provided by web-based music providers Bugs, Genie, KakaoMusic, Melon, Mnet, Naver Music, Olleh Music, and Soribada.
