Tika has been on social media since 2016, when she was four years old. Her Instagram account describes her as a "gay icon" and the "Kween of Derp". [9] Her extravagant wardrobe has approximately 300 outfits such as capes, hoodies, [10] cow-print polo necks, feathered jackets, colorful trench coats, and yellow sweatsuits. [7] [2] Tika gained popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic. [11] She has more than 1 million followers on social media [12] and has appeared in Vogue. [1] [13] [14] She appeared at the Billboard Music Awards in 2021 [15] and at New York Fashion Week in 2022 and 2023. [16] [17]

Tika is based in Ville-Émard, Montreal. [1] Her name is based on the Hindi phrase "Theek hai" (ठीक है), which translates to "alright, well done". [18] She is the subject of the book Tika the Iggy: Lessons in Life, Love, and Fashion. [2] [19]

Since creating the accounts for Tika, Shapiro left his job as a web developer in 2021. [20]
