Originally, the single was produced as an instrumental, titled the "Orchestral Mix". Ray was then asked to write lyrics and add a rap to the track. On Ray Slijngaard's suggestion, Anita Doth joined as the female vocalist.

In 1998, "Jackie" was recorded by Joanne, who used samples from the Blue Zone version. It was issued as B.Z. featuring Joanne and reached number three in Australia and number five in New Zealand. Another cover by Redzone peaked at number thirty-seven in Australia.
"Try It on My Own" is a song by American recording artist Whitney Houston. It was written by Babyface, Jason Edmonds, Carole Bayer Sager, Aleese Simmons, and Nathan Walton for her fifth studio album Just Whitney (2002), with production handled by the former. A pop ballad, the song is about overcoming doubts or fears so a person can reach the point in their life where they can "try it on [their] own".
"Look on the Floor" is a song by English girl group Bananarama, released in November 2005 as the second single from their ninth album Drama. The song was written by Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward, H. Korpi, M. Wollo, M. Malavasi and S. Micheli, and was produced by Korpi and BlackCell. Contained in "Look on the Floor" is an interpolation of the chorus of the 1983 Italo disco song "Hypnotic Tango" by My Mine.

"Insomnia" is a song by British musical group Faithless. Released as the band's second single, it became one of their most successful. "Because of You" is a song by American singer-songwriter Ne-Yo. It was written by Ne-Yo, Mikkel S. Eriksen, and Tor Erik Hermansen for his studio album of the same name while production was helmed by Eriksen and Hermansen under their production moniker Stargate. The song, released on February 13, 2007, served as the album's first single. "Because of You" reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, topped the New Zealand Singles Chart, and reached the top 10 in Ireland, Japan, and the United Kingdom. The song appears in the 2008 action-adventure video game Grand Theft Auto IV on the fictional radio station The Vibe 98.8.
"The Rhythm of the Night" is a song by Italian Eurodance group Corona. It was released as their debut single in 1993 in Italy, then elsewhere the following year. The song is the title track of the group's debut studio album, The Rhythm of the Night (1995), and was written by Francesco Bontempi, Annerley Emma Gordon, Giorgio Spagna, Pete Glenister and Mike Gaffey. It was produced by Bontempi, and the vocals were performed by Italian singer Giovanna Bersola, who is not credited on the single and does not appear in the music video. The woman who appears in the video is the group's frontwoman Olga Souza. The video was A-listed on Music TV-channels, such as Germany's VIVA. The song was a worldwide hit in 1994, peaking at number-one in Italy, and within the top five in most of Europe, while in the US, it fell short of the top ten, reaching number eleven on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Cash Box Top 100.
"Something Good" is a song by English electronic music duo Utah Saints. It was first included as the opening song on a seven-track EP titled Something Good, then later included on their debut album, Utah Saints (1992). The song contains a vocal sample from Kate Bush's "Cloudbusting", which had been a top-20 UK hit in 1985. Issued as a single on 25 May 1992, it reached number four on the UK Singles Chart as well as number seven on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. "Dirty Talk" is a dance-pop and electropop song backed by a house beat, inspired by a bedroom fantasy. Gordon has stated that the song is a lyrical product of her and her girlfriends goofing around in the studio.

With the Music I Die is the debut album and second extended play by American singer-songwriter Wynter Gordon, who subsequently adopted the stage name Diana Gordon. The full album was released through Big Beat Records exclusively in Australia on June 17, 2011. A cut-down EP version of the album was released in the United States and United Kingdom. It was preceded by the release of three singles: "Dirty Talk", "Til Death" and "Buy My Love" which all peaked inside the top three of the Hot Dance Club Songs Chart. The album has three different covers, the full-length album differs between the digital and physical format editions, the digital version containing the artist and album name text, whilst the physical version does not. The EP version features a completely different picture used for the cover.
"Buy My Love" is a song by American singer-songwriter Wynter Gordon. It is the third single to be released from her debut album, With the Music I Die (2011). It was released in the US and Australia on August 22, 2011, while an EP of remixes was released in the US on September 6, 2011. For the week of November 5, 2011, "Buy My Love" was named the Hot Shot Debut on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Songs chart, debuting at number 45 and peaking at number two. It was her third single to peak inside the top three on the chart. The song debuted at number 77 on the Australian Singles Chart and peaked at number 72 the following week.

It features vocals from Japanese girl group Idoling!!!. The song was written and produced by Solveig, and released as the album's third single on 24 October 2011. "Big in Japan" has charted in Belgium, Canada and the United Kingdom.
