Tisis luteella is a moth in the family Lecithoceridae. It was described by Snellen in 1903. It is found on Java and Sabah.
The wingspan is 17–24 mm. The forewings are clay-yellow, with dark crosslines in the cell. The hindwings are clay colored.

The South Indians in Fiji are mainly descendants of the 15,132 contract labourers who were brought to Fiji between 1903 and 1916. This represents about 25% out of a total of 60,965 contract labourers who were brought to Fiji between 1879 and 1916. They were forced in to ships from Madras and were mainly recruited in the districts of North Arcot, Madras, Krishna, Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Tanjore, Malabar and Coimbatore. More than half of the labourers from South India were recruited from North Arcot and Madras, but most of those recruited in Madras were originally from North Arcot and Chingleput.
The Lecithocerinae are a subfamily of small moths in the family Lecithoceridae. They are found worldwide, but most species occur in South Asia. The subfamily is characterized by the male genitalia with a bridge-like structure connecting the tegumen and the valva, and the uncus almost always is vestigial with two lobes at the dorsal base, only exceptionally united into a broad plate, but never as a thorn or spine.
