Zard were a Japanese pop rock group, originally with five members, with lead vocalist Izumi Sakai as its only constant member. Izumi Sakai was also the band's core member. Zard's work was sold under the record label B-Gram Records, Inc. Their most popular and successful songs are "Makenaide" (1993) (負けないで), "Yureru Omoi" (1993) (揺れる想い), and "My Friend" (1996). As of 2023, Zard has sold over 38 million records, making them one of the best-selling music artists in Japan.
Sachiko Kamachi, known professionally as Izumi Sakai, was a female Japanese pop singer, songwriter, music producer and core member of the group Zard. As Sakai was the only member in the group for the majority of the 16 years which it was active, Zard and Sakai may be referred to interchangeably. She was the best-selling female recording artist of the 1990s and has sold over 38 million copies of sales, making her one of the best-selling music artists in Japan of all time.
"Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku" is a song written by Izumi Sakai and Tetsurō Oda, originally recorded and released as the fourth single by Japanese rock band Field of View on March 11, 1996. The song serves as the opening theme to the anime series Dragon Ball GT, and the ending theme to the theatrical film Dragon Ball: The Path to Power. The single reached number four on the Oricon Singles Chart, and sold over 400,000 copies. Sakai released a cover of "Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku" with her group Zard on their 1996 album Today Is Another Day.
Golden Best: 15th Anniversary is Zard's fifth compilation album. Released in October 2006 under B-Gram Records. The album peaked #1 at Oricon weekly, charted for eighty one weeks and sold 942,220 units.
Mō Sagasanai is the second studio album of Japanese band Zard. It was released on December 25, 1991, released under B-Gram label. In 1991, B-Gram released this album in cassette tape and CD format. In 1993, B-Gram Records re-released this album only in CD format (BGCH-1004).
Yureru Omoi is the fourth album by Zard and was released on July 10, 1993 under B-Gram Records. This is the first original album released in about 10 months since the last album Hold Me. It is also the first album by Izumi Sakai as a solo unit since her first album Good-bye My Loneliness. The release was postponed several times, but was finally released on July 10. In addition, the order form at CD stores indicated that the album title was "Kimi ga Inai" and that it would be released simultaneously with the single "Yureru Omoi" on May 19.
Forever You is the sixth album by Zard and was released on March 10, 1995, under B-Gram Records label.
Eien is the eighth studio album by Zard, released on February 17, 1999, under B-Gram Records label.
Toki no Tsubasa is the ninth album by Zard, released on February 15, 2001, by B-Gram Records.
Tomatteita Tokei ga Ima Ugokidashita is the 10th album of Zard and was released on January 28, 2004 under B-Gram Records label.
Kimi to no Distance is the Zard 11th and final studio album, released on September 7, 2005 under B-Gram Records label. The album consist theme songs used for anime television series Detective Conan. Although Sakai released singles in 2006, this was Izumi Sakai's last album before her death in 2007.
"Unmei no Roulette Mawashite" is Zard's 25th single released on September 17, 1998, under B-Gram Records label. The single reached #1 rank during the first week after being released. It charted for 9 weeks and sold 247,000 copies. When Izumi Sakai died, it was elected as her fourth best song on the Oricon polls.

"Eien" is Zard's 22nd single released on August 20, 1997 under B-Gram Records label. Junichi Watanabe, the writer of the novel, wrote the title word "Eien" of the CD cover. The single reached rank number 1 first week. It charted for 13 weeks and sold 628,000 copies. When Izumi Sakai died in 2007, it was selected as her fifth best song on the Oricon polls.
"My Friend" is the 17th single by Zard, released 8 January 1996. The single debuted at ranked #1 on its first week. It charted for 21 weeks and sold over a million copies, becoming the third highest-selling single in Zard's career. When she died, it was elected as her third best song on the Oricon polls. The song is best known as the 4th Ending theme for Slam Dunk anime.
"Kanashii Hodo Anata ga Suki/Karatto Ikō! (悲しいほど貴方が好き/カラッといこう!)" is the 41st single by Zard and released 8 March 2006 under B-Gram Records label. Kanashii Hodo Anata ga Suki wasn't included in their final studio album Kimi to no Distance, however it got released in their compilation album Brezza di mare: Dedicated to Izumi Sakai. Karatto Ikō! was released only in their compilation album Zard Single Collection in 2012.
"Iki mo Dekinai (息もできない)" is the 24th single by Zard and released 4 March 1998 under B-Gram Records label. The single debuted at #3 rank first week. It charted for 10 weeks and sold over 240,000 copies.
