Tom Schaar (born September 14, 1999) is an American professional skateboarder. [1] He was the first skateboarder to land a "1080," which is three revolutions and was the youngest X Games gold medalist after completing the first 1080 in a competition at the 2012 Asia X Games in Shanghai; [2] [3] Forbes Magazine listed Schaar to their 2020 30 Under 30 Sports category highlighting the next generation of Sports talent. Skateboarding career

In addition to being the youngest X Games gold medalist, Schaar is also the youngest Dew Tour champion, [5] the youngest Vans Pool Party champion, [6] and the youngest "Big Air" gold medalist at the Austin X Games. [7] Before turning 18 years old, Schaar was a nine-time X Games Medalist. [8] On March 20, 2019, Schaar was named to the first-ever U.S.A Skateboarding National Team. [9]

Milestones

In October 2011, Schaar became the 8th person in history to land a 900 on a skateboard. [10]

In September 2016, Schaar became the 1st person in history to land a Stalefish 900 on a skateboard.[ citation needed ]

1080

In 2006, skateboarder and snowboarder Shaun White unsuccessfully attempted the 1080 on 21 occasions at that year's X Games and 29 occasions the year before. It had previously been considered the "[[Holy age 6, Schaar had watched White's 2006 attempts from the stands. [11]

In March 2012, at the age of 12, Schaar landed the first 1080 on a skateboard after four previous (unsuccessful) attempts. [12] Schaar commented to ESPN, "It was the hardest trick I've ever done, but it was easier than I thought.". [13] He completed the feat on a mega ramp.

At the Asian X Games, he won skate Mini Mega by landing the 1080, [14] [15] and became the first to land a 1080 on a skateboard in a competition and the youngest ever to win an X Games gold medal at the age of 12.

The 900 is a 2½-revolution aerial spin performed on a skateboard ramp. While airborne, the skateboarder makes two-and-a-half turns about their longitudinal axis, thereby facing down when coming down. It is considered one of skateboarding's most technically demanding tricks.

The 1080 is a skateboarding trick that can be performed on a vertical skateboard ramp or on a mega ramp, in which the skateboarder makes three full revolutions while airborne. It was first completed successfully on a mega ramp in 2012 by American skateboarder Tom Schaar, and on a vert ramp in May 2020 by Brazilian skateboarder Gui Khury. The 1080 has only ever been landed after a fakie ollie, meaning the rider is in the normal stance, but rolling in the opposite direction, popping off of the tail.

X Games XVIII was an action sporting event which took place from June 28 – July 1, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. Venues for the event included the Staples Center, Nokia Theater and the streets near L.A. Live. The games featured the sports of Moto X, skateboarding, BMX, and RallyCross. Last year's X Games 17 was the first ever X Games to feature Enduro X, which replaced Super X. In 2013, the Summer X Games will be held in four international cities in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil ; Barcelona, Spain ; Munich, Germany ; and Los Angeles, California.

Nicknamed "Little Tricky", he began skateboarding at the age of three in Kirkland, Washington, gaining popularity and recognition as a young talent in skateboarding. Brusco is the first skateboarder in history to successfully land a 1260, a skateboard trick in which the rider makes three-and-half revolutions in the air before landing, in competition. He also has held other records involving the 1080 and the 900.

Venues for the event included the Staples Center, Irwindale Event Center, and the streets near L.A. Live. It was the first year that events were held in Irwindale.

Emanuel "Manny" Santiago, nicknamed "Manny Slays All", is a professional skateboarder from Cayey, Puerto Rico. Santiago is the first Puerto Rican skateboarder to be in the Street League Skateboarding (SLS) “premier competitive series”. In 2013, Santiago won two consecutive stops in the first ever "Select Series" at Street League Skateboarding (SLS) Brazil and Barcelona. As an amateur, Santiago won 1st place for Best Trick at the Black Box Crossroads Contest amongst professional skateboarders like Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, Torey Pudwill, and Ryan Sheckler. In 2012, he became the first Puerto Rican street skateboarder to place in the top three in the X Games after coming in 3rd place at the finals in Barcelona. He is famously recognized for his missing tooth, ear-to-ear smile, and endlessly positive demeanor.

The X Games Foz de Iguaçu 2013 was an action sporting event which took place from April 18–21, 2013 in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil. Venues for the event included the Iguaçu National Park and Infraero Park.

Pedro Barros, known as Pedrinho Barros, is a Brazilian skateboarder who is specialized in Bowl and Park Skateboarding. He won the silver medal in the inaugural Olympic men's park skateboarding event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Also, in doom metal/dark punk band Melissa, Pedro is an entrepreneur, having his own beer company (LayBack) and his fashion and lifestyle brand, Privê.

Guilherme 'Gui' Khury is a Brazilian skateboarder. He is the first person to land a 1080 on a vertical ramp and the youngest person to win a gold medal at the X-Games.
