Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is the musical project of American indie rock musician Alec Ounsworth. The group was founded in 2004 and is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Brooklyn, New York. Until 2014, the project operated as a band with drummer Sean Greenhalgh being a member for its entirety. Keyboardist/guitarist Robbie Guertin and brothers Lee (guitar/vocals) and Tyler (bass) Sargent were also a part of the band from its inception until their collective departure in 2012. Their debut album, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, was self-released in 2005.

Their self-titled debut EP was posted on their Bandcamp account on February 11, 2014, and re-released on Wichita Recordings later that year, on November 17. The band released its debut album, Before the World Was Big, on June 2, 2015, also on Wichita Recordings. Their second album, Powerplant, was released on May 12, 2017, via Anti-. They added drummer Miles Wintner on their Powerplant album.

He has also been a member of multiple bands, including Arc in Round. He has often collaborated with fellow Philadelphia musician Mary Lattimore. His production credits include Allison Crutchfield's 2017 solo debut album Tourist in This Town. In 2016, he started his own record label, Soft Dystopia. Also that year, he released the first self-titled album by his project Valley Exit, whose other members include Josh Meakam, April Harkanson (Myrrias), and Steven Urgo.
Out in the Storm is the fourth studio album by Katie Crutchfield's band Waxahatchee, released on July 14, 2017 through Merge. It features her sister Allison Crutchfield on keyboards and percussion, as well as Katie Harkin, Katherine Simonetti, and Ashley Arnwine. Dinosaur Jr./Sonic Youth producer John Agnello recorded the album live. The album was released digitally, on vinyl and compact disc.
