Trevor Giles is an Irish former Gaelic footballer for the Meath county team. [1] Regarded as one of the best players of his generation, he plays club football for Skryne.
He came to prominence first when he won an All Ireland minor medal with Meath in 1992. In 1993 he moved on to the Under 21 team and won an All Ireland title coming on as a sub in the final. He would go on to win 2 All Ireland Senior medals, 3 Leinster Senior Football Championship medals & 1 National League Medals. He usually played in the half forward line for Meath. Trevor has won 3 All Star awards and was chosen as the All Stars Footballer of the Year in 1996 and 1999 [2] (as of 2019 still the only player to accomplish this feat) and Texaco Footballer of the Year in 1999. Trevor had to deal with some injury setbacks in his football career, playing against Kildare in the 1998 Leinster final loss he ruptured his cruciate knee ligament, a serious injury which kept him out of the game for many months, but he returned in 1999 to have probably his best season of his playing career. In 2001 Meath made the All Ireland final but were well beaten by Galway. Since the 2005 season Trevor has not made himself available for selection for the Meath panel. He was said to have taken inspiration from the Kildare footballer Johnny Doyle.
Trevor represented Ireland in many of the annual International rules series against Australia. Trevor is a cousin of another Meath footballer Mick Lyons.
For his club Skryne he usually played at Center Half back, with whom he has won 4Meath Senior Football Championship Titles.
He was a selector when clubmate Mick O'Dowd managed Meath. [3]
In May 2020, the Irish Independent named Giles at number seventeen in its "Top 20 footballers in Ireland over the past 50 years". [4]

The Meath County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) or Meath GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Meath, as well as for Meath county teams.
Senan Connell is an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for the Na Fianna club on Dublin's Northside and for the Dublin county team.
Larry Tompkins is a former Irish Gaelic football manager and player. Throughout his 20-year club career, he played for his adopted club Castlehaven, winning three Munster Club Championship titles during a golden age for the club; he had earlier played for his hometown club Eadestown, and also enjoyed championship successes. At inter-county level, he captained Cork to win the 1990 All-Ireland Championship; he had earlier claimed a first winners' medal as centre-forward on the 1989 All-Ireland-winning team. As well as being a successful captain for club and county, Tompkins was also selected for Leinster and Munster in the Railway Cup. After retirement from playing, he served as a coach and manager, most notably with the Cork senior team.
Mick Lyons is a former Gaelic footballer who played for Summerhill and the Meath county team. He won two All-Ireland medals with Meath in 1987 and 1988 and has also won two All Star awards. He won the Meath Senior Football Championship with Summerhill in 1986. He has generally played at the full-back position for his county.
Tommy Dowd is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Meath county team.
John McDermott is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Meath county team. He had much success playing inter-county football in the 1990s on the Meath teams managed by Sean Boylan. For Meath he played in the midfield position.
Paddy "Hands" O'Brien was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a full-back at senior level for the Meath county team.
Peter McDermott was an Irish Gaelic football player, coach, administrator and referee. Throughout a club career that spanned over 20 years, he played for several clubs and enjoyed championship success in different grades with Rathfeigh, Donaghmore and Navan O'Mahony's. At inter-county level, he was left corner-forward on the Meath senior football team that won All-Ireland Championship titles in 1949 and 1954 as team captain; he was the first Meath player to win six Leinster Championship medals and also claimed two National League titles. His 51 championship appearances stood as a Meath record for nearly 40 years. As well as club and county successes, McDermott was a regular for Leinster and won three Railway Cup medals.
Skryne GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Village of Skryne, in County Meath, Ireland. The club mainly plays Gaelic Football. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Skryne has the second most Meath Senior Football Championship titles after Navan O Mahony's. Every All-Ireland Winning Meath team has had a Skryne player as a panel member. Skryne have never been relegated from Senior level in the football championship.
Paddy O'Rourke is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for his club Skryne and, formerly, the Meath county team. O'Rourke is the nephew of former Skryne and Meath player Colm and first cousin of former Meath player Shane.
Kevin Reilly is an Irish Gaelic footballer. He played at senior level for the Meath county team from 2005 to 2015.
