The men's triathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics took place on 31 July 2024. Alex Yee of Great Britain won the gold medal, with Hayden Wilde of New Zealand and Léo Bergère of France taking silver and bronze, respectively. [1]

The event was initially scheduled to be held on 30 July, but was postponed for a day due to the water quality of the Seine river. [2]

The Summer Olympic Games, also known as the Games of the Olympiad, is a major international multi-sport event normally held once every four years. The inaugural Games took place in 1896 in Athens, Greece, and the most recent Games are being held in 2024 in Paris, France. This was the first international multi-sport event of its kind, organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) founded by Pierre de Coubertin. The Seine is a 777-kilometre-long (483 mi) river in northern France. Its drainage basin is in the Paris Basin covering most of northern France. It rises at Source-Seine, 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Dijon in northeastern France in the Langres plateau, flowing through Paris and into the English Channel at Le Havre. It is navigable by ocean-going vessels as far as Rouen, 120 kilometres (75 mi) from the sea. Over 60 percent of its length, as far as Burgundy, is negotiable by large barges and most tour boats, and nearly its whole length is available for recreational boating; excursion boats offer sightseeing tours of the river banks in the capital city, Paris.

Triathlon had its Summer Olympics debut at the 2000 Games, in Sydney, when men's and women's individual events were first held, and has been contested since then. In 2021, at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics a mixed team relay event was held for the first time. The sport, and its Olympic events, are governed by the International Triathlon Union, known since 2019 as World Triathlon.

The men's artistic individual all-around was an artistic gymnastics event held as part of the gymnastics programme at the 1904 Summer Olympics. It was the second time an all-around event was held at the Olympics. The competition was held on Friday, July 1, 1904 and on Saturday, July 2, 1904. One hundred and nineteen gymnasts from three nations competed. The event was won by Julius Lenhart, an Austrian gymnast living in the United States and competing under the auspices of his Philadelphia-based club. Silver went to Wilhelm Weber of Germany, with bronze to Adolf Spinnler of Switzerland. They were the first medals in the event for each of those nations, as France had swept the medals in 1900.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Alistair Brownlee</span> English triathlete (born 1988)

Alistair Edward Brownlee MBE is an English triathlete. He is the only athlete to hold two Olympic titles in the individual triathlon event, winning gold medals in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. He is also a four-time World Champion in triathlon being Triathlon World Champion twice and World Team Champion twice, a four-time European Champion, and the 2014 Commonwealth champion. Brownlee is the only athlete, male or female, to have completed a grand slam of Olympic, World, continental and Commonwealth championships. Brownlee is also a one-time world champion in aquathlon. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest male Triathletes ever.

The triathlon events at the 2012 Summer Olympics were held in Hyde Park in London, United Kingdom, with the women's triathlon held on 4 August and the men's on 7 August. 110 triathletes from 39 countries competed with 55 men and 55 women competing. The races were held over the "international distance" and consisted of 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) swimming, 43 kilometres (27 mi) road cycling, and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) road running.

The triathlon competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo featured fifty-five athletes competing in each of the men's and women's events. The 2020 Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also added the new mixed team relay event.

Cassandre Beaugrand is a French triathlete, 2014 National Elite Champion, 2013 and 2014 National Youth Champion, 2013 European Team Relay Youth Champion and 2014 Vice Junior World Champion, and 2018 until 2020 World Team Relay Champion. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, she won Gold in the individual Triathlon.

Paratriathlon at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, took place at the Odaiba Marine Park. It was the second time that paratriathlon was scheduled in the Paralympics. Eight events were contested ; two more events than previously contested at the 2016 Summer Paralympics.

Hayden Wilde is a New Zealand professional triathlete. He was the silver medalist at the Paris Olympics in 2024 and the bronze medallist at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, the silver medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the winner of the 2021 XTERRA World Championships. He finished second in the 2021 Super League Triathlon Championship Series, having taken the win at the SLT London race. Wilde won the 2022 Super League Triathlon Championship Series, having been victorious in 3 of the 5 series races.

Alexander Amos Yee is a British professional triathlete and distance runner. He won the gold medal in the Men's Triathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, the silver medal in the same event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the gold medal in the Triathlon Mixed Relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and the bronze medal in the same event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. With two golds, one silver, and one bronze medals, Yee is the most successful triathlete in Olympic history.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bence Bicsák</span> Hungarian triathlete

Bence Bicsák is a Hungarian professional triathlete and double Olympian. He was a member of the Hungarian 2024 Olympic Triathlon team and officially selected to compete in the men's individual event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where he finished in 16th place out of 55 Olympians who started the race. He was also a member of the Hungarian 2020 Olympic Triathlon team and competed in the men's individual event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Summer Games where placed 7th out of 51 Olympians who started the race. Post Paris 2024 Olympics, Bicsák's 7th-place finish at an Olympic triathlon event remains unsurpassed by any other Hungarian triathlete.

The triathlon competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are scheduled to run from 31 July to 5 August at Pont Alexandre III, featuring a total of 110 athletes who will compete in each of the men's and women's events. After a successful debut at the 2020 Summer Olympics, the mixed relay competition will remain in the triathlon program for the second time.

The women's triathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics took place on July 31. The event took place on the same day as the men's event after the men's event was postponed due to water quality issues with the Seine river. Cassandre Beaugrand of France won the gold medal, with Julie Derron of Switzerland and Beth Potter of Great Britain taking silver and bronze, respectively.
