He played college football for Iowa State University where he was a Heisman finalist. Troy Davis twice earned All-American honors and was the first and one of two NCAA Division I-A running backs to rush for over 2,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. In 2016, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He played professionally for the New Orleans Saints of the NFL, and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts of the CFL, and was a member of the Eskimos' Grey Cup championship team in 2005.

The Davis County Courthouse in Bloomfield, Iowa, United States was built in 1877. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Two years later it was listed as a contributing property in the Bloomfield Square historic district. The courthouse is the second building to house court functions and county administration.

Troy Academy school in Troy, Iowa, USA

Troy Academy was a school of higher education in Davis County, Iowa. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was founded in 1853 as a "seminary of learning" and operated through the Des Moines Presbytery and then independently. It was the first "normal school" teaching teachers in the newly created state of Iowa. In addition to training teachers, it also taught students hoping to become lawyers, doctors and eventually taught courses in business and accounting. Eventually the Troy Academy became the high school of the Troy Independent School District in 1904. The school was for most of its history coeducational. The Troy Academy is undergoing renovations and is accessible to the public a few times per year and upon request.
