Mateo Palacios Corazzina (born 25 March 2002), better known by the stage name Trueno, is an Argentine rapper, singer and songwriter. [1] [2] He is best known for his appearance in the freestyle session "BZRP Freestyle Sessions # 6" in collaboration with Bizarrap, which managed to exceed 250,000,000 views on YouTube and currently holds the record for being the most viewed freestyle video on that site. Early years

Mateo was born on 25 March 2002 in the neighborhood of La Boca in Buenos Aires, Argentina. From a very young age he showed his love for rap, one of his great influences would be the American rappers Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. [1] He is the son of Uruguayan-born rapper MC Peligro, who is recognized for having won multiple freestyle competitions, who is also a great reference for Trueno to dedicate himself to freestyle since he stated that he wanted to be a soccer player. [2] [6] His paternal grandfather was Yamandú Palacios, an Uruguayan singer-songwriter and guitarist of folklore music, who played alongside artists such as Alfredo Zitarrosa, Joaquín Sabina or Joan Manuel Serrat. [7]

Career

At age 14, he was crowned champion in the ACDP Zoo Juniors tournament. [2] In 2017, Trueno became champion of the Crossing of Champions competition. In 2018, he participated in the FMS Argentina competition, where he finished in last place. [8] On 21 October 2019, Trueno was crowned national champion of Red Bull's Batalla de los Gallos Argentina freestyle competition. [9] [10] [11] At the end of that year, Trueno managed to finish in the first position of the FMS Argentina competition. [8] On 23 July 2020, he released his debut album called Atrevido. The song "Mamichula", in collaboration with Nicki Nicole and Bizarrap, was positioned in the first place of the Argentina Hot 100 list of Billboard . [12] [13] In just over a month, the official video for the song surpassed 100,000,000 views on YouTube.

He worked alongside various artists, such as Planet Hemp, Nicki Nicole, Nathy Peluso, Underdann, Bizarrap, Bhavi, Halpe, Wos, XOVOX, C. Terrible, Shaolin Monkeys, El Alfa, Noriel, J Balvin, Tiago PZK among others.

Personal life

Trueno has shown his great love of football, his favorite team is Boca Juniors, one of Argentina's biggest and most important sports clubs and the main club in his home neighbourhood. Even the music video for the song "Ñeri" was recorded at the La Bombonera stadium, where Boca Juniors plays. [27]

Atrevido (transl. "Daring") is the debut studio album by Argentine rapper Trueno. It was released on 23 July 2020 through NEUEN and distributed by Sony Music Latin. This is the first full-length album that Trueno released after announcing his retirement from freestyle battles. The album features the collaborations of artists such as Alemán, Wos and Nicki Nicole. The album also features XOVOX, Oniria, Evlay and Bizarrap productions although the album was produced entirely by Taiu and Tatool.

It recognized the best recordings, compositions and artists of the eligibility year, from January 1 to December 31, 2022, as determined by the members of the Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms Producers. The nominees for the different categories were announced on April 11 of the same year. The ceremony was presented by Iván de Pineda, who hosted the 2019 ceremony; and broadcast live through the Star+ platform. Rapper Trueno received the most nominations with nine, followed by singer Dante Spinetta with seven and the band Babasónicos with six.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">26th Annual Premios Gardel</span> 2024 edition of award ceremony

The 26th Annual Premios Gardel honored the best recordings, compositions, and artists from 1 January to 31 December 2023, as chosen by the members of Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms Producers, on 28 May 2024. In its 3rd year at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, the ceremony was broadcast on Star+ and Star Channel, and was hosted by Iván de Pineda for the third time. The event was co-hosted by Evelyn Botto, Nacho Elizalde and Cris Vanadía. The nominations were announced on 30 April 2024; Milo J received the most nominations with fifteen, followed by Emilia with twelve.
