The Tuvalu Games is a multi-sport event, much like the Pacific Games (although on a much smaller scale), with participation exclusively from islands around Tuvalu. [1]
The Games began in 2008, hosted in the capital, Funafuti.
All 8 islands can participate and compete between each island in events such as track and field events, football, badminton and other games. [2]
In 2011 the Tuvalu Games were held in Funafuti from April 26th to April 30th. Nukufetau won the most medals. [3]

Football has been a regular event at the Tuvalu Games, [4] and is a competition organized by the Tuvalu National Football Association. It is called also Tuvalu Cup.
The tournament began in the 2008 season. The first champions were FC Manu Laeva. [4]
The 2013 champions were FC Tofaga; winning the final against Nauti 1–0, with Etimoni Timuani scoring the only goal. [5]

The Tuvalu A-Division or The National Provident Fund Championship League (NPF) is the top football division in Tuvalu. The league is organised by the Tuvalu National Football Association. Eight of the nine islands in Tuvalu are represented in the league. Niulakita is the only island that has no football club. Matches are held at the 1,500-capacity Tuvalu Sports Ground in Funafuti, the only football field on the main island.
Sport is an important part of Tuvaluan culture, which sporting culture is based on traditional games and athletic activities and the adoption of some of the major international sports of the modern era.

The football clubs are based on the communities of the 8 major islands of Tuvalu, with the rivalry between these 8 teams being maintained by each having a ‘home’ island.
The 2006 Tuvalu A-Division was the sixth season of association football competition. the Tuvalu A-Division was won by Lakena United for the second time. the format of the league was changed for this season, rather than a single division, the teams were split into two pools, the winners of each pool then played each other in a single leg final to determine the champion. Kivoli Tehulu was the season's top scorer and Paueli Hemanaia won the player of the year award.
The 2009 Tuvalu A-Division was the ninth season of association football competition. The Tuvalu A-Division was won by Nauti FC for the third consecutive time and the fourth time overall. The league was renamed for the fourth consecutive season, this time being called the Funafuti League.
