Lara & Reyes is an instrumental group founded by Sergio Lara and Joe Reyes in 1989. It performed flamenco-influenced Latin guitar instrumental pieces. Their first album Two Guitars - One Passion released in 1992 under Talking Taco Records Record Label, the album was available only at the duo's concerts and in a limited number of record stores around their home of San Antonio, Texas, later the album was released in 1996 under Higher Octave Music Record Label. By the time Two Guitars - One Passion was released in San Antonio, both Joe Reyes and Sergio Lara were receiving top honors in the San Antonio News's annual media awards. Both have won the acoustic guitar category, for instance, and Sergio's mandolin playing won him a first place award in the miscellaneous instrument category. The two have won the San Antonio Current award as "Best Latin Band" for two years running.

Lara & Reyes was the seventh album released by the flamenco-influenced Latin guitar instrumental duo Lara & Reyes. This album won an Indie Acoustic Project Award in 2007 in the category of "Best Latin Album".

José Reyes Meza was a Mexican painter, costume and set designer, who helped to found a number of cultural institutions in Mexico. Reyes Meza began his artistic career principally in theater, although he was an active painter and even bullfighter in his early days. Painting became prominent starting in the 1970s, working on murals in various parts of Mexico as well as exhibiting canvas works in Mexico and abroad. The artist is a founding member of the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana and his work has been acknowledged by tributes, various awards and an art museum in Nuevo Laredo named after him.

Martina Navratilova and Iván Molina defeated Rosie Reyes Darmon and Marcello Lara in the final, 6–3, 6–3 to win the mixed doubles tennis title at the 1974 French Open. It was the first major for both Molina and Navratilova. For Navratilova, it was the first of an eventual ten mixed doubles major titles, and the first of an eventual Open Era record 59 major titles overall.
