  1. Chinese : 煮炒 ; pinyin :zhǔchǎo; Pe̍h-ōe-jī :chír-chhá; lit.'cook and fry'
  2. The "Singaporean heartlands" is a local term that largely refers to districts that are not located within the Central Region of the country. However, tze char stalls are still commonplace in the metropolitan area, albeit at higher prices.
