The Erasmus Programme is a European Union (EU) student exchange programme established in 1987. Erasmus+, or Erasmus Plus, is the new programme combining all the EU's current schemes for education, training, youth and sport, which was started in January 2014.
European Union culture policies aim to address and promote the cultural dimension of European integration through relevant legislation and government funding. These policies support the development of cultural activity, education or research conducted by private companies, NGO's and individual initiatives based in the EU working in the fields of cinema and audiovisual, publishing, music and crafts.
The European Research Area (ERA) is a system of scientific research programs integrating the scientific resources of the European Union (EU). Since its inception in 2000, the structure has been concentrated on European cooperation in the fields of medical, environmental, industrial, and socioeconomic research. The ERA can be likened to a research and innovation equivalent of the European "common market" for goods and services. Its purpose is to increase the competitiveness of European research institutions by bringing them together and encouraging a more inclusive way of work, similar to what already exists among institutions in North America and Japan. Increased mobility of knowledge workers and deepened multilateral cooperation among research institutions among the member states of the European Union are central goals of the ERA.
The Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development, also called Framework Programmes or abbreviated FP1 to FP9, are funding programmes created by the European Union/European Commission to support and foster research in the European Research Area (ERA). Starting in 2014, the funding programmes were named Horizon.
Interreg is a series of programmes to stimulate cooperation between regions in and out of the European Union (EU), funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The first Interreg started in 1989. Interreg IV covered the period 2007–2013. Interreg V (2014–2020) covers all 27 EU member states, the EFTA countries, six accession countries and 18 neighbouring countries. It has a budget of EUR 10.1 billion, which represents 2.8% of the total of the European Cohesion Policy budget. Since the non EU countries don't pay EU membership fee, they contribute directly to Interreg, not through ERDF.

Erasmus+ is the European Commission's Programme for education, training, youth, and sport for the period 2021-2027, succeeding the previous programme (2007-2014). As an integrated programme, Erasmus+ offers more opportunities for the mobility of learners and staff and cooperation across the education, training, and youth sectors and is easier to access than its predecessors, with simplified funding rules and a structure that aims to streamline the administration of the programme.The new Erasmus+ Program, running from 2021-27, is more digital, inclusive and innovative, as well as greener.
EuroTech Universities Alliance is an alliance of Technical University of Denmark, École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, École Polytechnique, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology, and Technical University of Munich. Founded in 2011, it aims to promote collaboration in research, education and innovation between European universities of science and technology. Today, the alliance focuses on five fields: artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, health and bioengineering, sustainability, and entrepreneurship and innovation. The current president of the alliance is Éric Labaye.

Androulla Kaminara is a European civil servant from Cyprus who as of February 2022 is serving as the Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. As such, she is the first women ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan. Before her appointment in the European External Action Service, she joined the European Commission in 1991, where she has served in various Directorates General, including those dealing with technology, communications, development cooperation, international relations, and humanitarian aid.
The European Union is one of the main anti-piracy actors in the Gulf of Guinea (GoG). At any one time, the EU has on average 30 owned or flagged vessels in the region. The piracy in the Gulf of Guinea is therefore a threat towards the EU, and as a response the organization adopted its strategy on the Gulf of Guinea in March 2014. The Strategy on the Gulf of Guinea is a 12-page document with the scope of the problem, what have previously been done, responses and the way forward with four strategic objectives. The EU's overriding objective are:
- to build a common understanding in regional countries of the threat and its long-term effect and the need to address the piracy issues among the regional and international community.
- to help the governments in the region to ensure maritime awareness, security and the rule of law by building robust institutions and maritime administrations.
- to assist vulnerable economies to withstand criminal or violent activity and to build resilience to communities.
- to strengthen cooperation between the countries and organizations on the region to fight threats both on land and sea.
