United Stations Radio Networks (United Stations) is a radio network that provides a variety of radio programs and programming services for radio stations throughout the United States and elsewhere. It is based in New York City.

History

The company was founded in February 1994 by pop icon Dick Clark and radio veterans Nick Verbitsky and Ed Salamon. [1] [2] Verbitsky continued to serve as the company's CEO, while Andy Denemark serves as the Vice President of Programming and plays a large role in company contributions.

The similarly named "United Stations Radio Network" (singular), also founded by Clark, Verbitsky, and Salamon in 1980, bought the RKO Radio Networks in 1985 and eventually merged with CBS Radio and the original incarnation of Westwood One. [1]

In 2023, Gemini XIII, a company established by executives formerly with Dial Global and Cadence13, agreed to purchase United Stations. [3]

Programming

United Stations's entertainment program offerings include Rewind with Gary Bryan , America's Greatest Hits with Scott Shannon, Nights With Alice Cooper , The House of Hair , various programs hosted by Tom Kent, Lex and Terry , Absolutely 80s with Nina Blackwood, Open House Party , Dick Bartley's Classic Hits , [4] Rock & Roll's Greatest Hits also hosted by Bartley, [4] the Lou Brutus shows hardDrive and hardDriveXL, The Sandy Show, [5] Rick Jackson's Country Classics, [6] and reruns of Dick Clark's Rock, Roll & Remember and the daily Music Calendar. The company also co-manages, along with iHeartMedia, the Your Smooth Jazz network provided by Broadcast Architecture.

United Stations distributes Bloomberg Radio's 24-hour and short-form business news programming. Weather information is sourced from AccuWeather, whose forecasts USRN has distributed since 2009 [7] (taking over the distribution from the original Westwood One). Previously, Al Roker and John Wetherbee ran USRN's weather division.

Other services include a morning prep service known as "Pulse of Radio", as well as comedy programming. United Stations distributes college football broadcasts from Touchdown Radio Productions.

In February 2023, United Stations launched The TJ Show, a syndicated morning show hosted by former WODS morning host and WHTZ co-host TJ Taormina. [8] In response to Gemini XIII's acquisition of United Stations, Nights with Alice Cooper departed the network in September 2023. [9]

A local staff provided Nevada news, weather and traffic. Weather coverage was supplied by NBC Network affiliate KSNV.

Dick Bartley is an American radio disc jockey. He has hosted several popular syndicated radio shows of the oldies/classic hits genre, including Dick Bartley's Classic Hits and Rock & Roll's Greatest Hits, both syndicated through United Stations Radio Networks.

The RKO Radio Network was commercial radio network that operated in the USA from 1979 to 1985. The network was a subsidiary of the RKO General broadcasting company. It became RKO Radio Networks when a second network was added in 1981. After subsequent mergers, its parent company rendered it defunct in 1994.

Dick Bartley's Classic Hits was a syndicated weekly, four-hour, classic hits program written, produced and hosted by Radio Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Dick Bartley. It was syndicated across the country by United Stations Radio Networks and internationally via Radio Express.

Nights with Alice Cooper was a radio show hosted by Detroit born rock and roll artist and shock rock pioneer, Alice Cooper. It was syndicated by United Stations Radio Networks and broadcast on a wide variety of affiliate radio stations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Oman, and Europe. The most recent show was being streamed online in a continuous loop by Radionomy, which was also used for the official Nights with Alice Cooper app for iOS and Android. Additionally, it offered "exclusive content" as well as interaction with other fans.
