The University of Santo Tomas has appeared on Philippine postage stamps, a banknote, and commemorative coins and medals.

Stamps

UST 345th Anniversary of 1956

The 345th anniversary of the university is commemorated on the 5-centavo and 60-centavo stamps. The stamps feature the columns and the sprandel of the Arch of the Centuries and the UST Main Building. [1]

Rizal Centennial Stamps of 1961

The 5c stamp depicts the UST and Ateneo de Municipal campuses in Intramuros while Jose Rizal was still a student.

UST Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy 100th Anniversary of 1971

The 5-centavo and 2-peso Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and the Faculty of Pharmacy commemorative stamps were issued in 1971, on the centennial year of their foundation. The stamps feature the shield logos of the two faculties and the UST Main Building's tower. [1]

UST College of Science and College of Education 50th Anniversary of 1976

The College of Science and College of Education 50th anniversary was celebrated with 15-centavo and 50-centavo stamps in 1976. Both stamps feature their college logos.

Order of the Dominicans in the Philippines 400th Anniversary of 1987

The stamp features the painting that depicts the foundation of the university.

7th Asean Int. Philatelic Exhibition (Aseanpex '96) of 1996

The 4-peso stamp depicts the UST building in Intramuros as part of the historical places during Jose Rizal's life. [2]

UST Quadricentennial Anniversary of 2011

The first set features the Benavides Monument and the Quattromondial. The second set features the UST Main Building, the Central Seminary, the Arch of the Centuries, and the 1911 painting, The Foundation of the University of Santo Tomas by Archbishop Benavides.

Beatification of Pope John Paul II of 2011

The 2011 stamp features Pope John Paul II with the UST Main Building in the background. It depicts the beatification of the pope on May 1, 2011. [3]

UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery 150th Anniversary of 2022

The stamps that were released for the sesquicentennial anniversary of the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery feature the 1958 History of Medicine mural frescoes of Vicente Manansala found in the lobby of the San Martin de Porres building. The first set includes the murals: St. Cosmas and St. Damian, Jesus Christ forgives and cures the paralytic, and the Founding of the UST Faculty of Medicine & Surgery. The second set includes The first laparotomy in the Philippines and the Miraculous healings at Lourdes, France. [4]

Coins

UST Quadricentennial Anniversary of 2011

The UST Alumni Association Inc. released three commemorative medallions made of nickel-brass alloy, silver-plated nickel-brass core, and 24K heavy gold-plated nickel-brass core. The medallion has an early design of the Thomasian Alumni Center on the reverse, and the UST Main Building and the Benavides Statue on the obverse. The design was made by UST College of Architecture and Fine Arts graduate Bayani Rumbaoa. He was the first Filipino to design the coins that were in circulation in the Philippines.

The university also issued two commemorative medals in gold and silver colors. The obverse shows the Miguel Benavides statue, the university name and its honorific titles, and the Latin words fides, spes, caritas (faith, hope, and love). The reverse shows the silhouette of the UST Main Building and the Tongues of Fire logo. [9]

The University of Santo Tomas is one of the oldest existing universities and holds the oldest extant university charter in the Philippines and in Asia. It was founded on April 28, 1611, by the third Archbishop of Manila, Miguel de Benavides, together with Domingo de Nieva and Bernardo de Santa Catalina. It was originally conceived as a school to prepare young men for the priesthood. Located Intramuros, it was first called Colegio de Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario and later renamed Colegio de Santo Tomás in memory of Dominican theologian Saint Thomas Aquinas. In 1624, the colegio was authorized to confer academic degrees in theology, philosophy, and arts. On November 20, 1645, after representations by Vittorio Riccio, Pope Innocent X elevated the college to the rank of a university and in 1680 it was placed under royal patronage.

The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas (UST) Quadricentennial Celebration took place from December 18, 2009 to January 27, 2012. The agenda before the quadricentennial year in 2011 included the introduction of new academic programs, improvements in the university's infrastructure, and other projects to raise UST's national and international prominence and promote its role as a social catalyst.

The New Design Series (NDS) (also known as the BSP Series after the establishment of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) was the name used to refer to the banknotes of the Philippine peso conceptualized from 1983 to 1985, issued from 1985 to 2013 and circulated from 1985 to 2019 including commemorative notes, and coins issued from 1995 to 2017. The coins were minted and issued from c. December 1995 to November 30, 2017, and remain legal tender as of 2023. It was succeeded by the New Generation Currency (NGC) Series that was conceptualized from 2007 to 2010, and issued on December 16, 2010 for banknotes and November 30, 2017 for coins. The series used the Friz Quadrata, Arial, Optima, and Helvetica typeface.

Compared to other denominations, this note is relatively uncommon.

The Ang Bagong Lipunan Series is the name used to refer to Philippine banknotes and coins issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines from 1973 to 1985. It was succeeded by the New Design series of banknotes. The lowest denomination of the series is 2-piso and the highest is 100-piso.

The Miguel de Benavides Library, also known as the University of Santo Tomas Library, is the main academic library of the University of Santo Tomas. The library has been in continuous service and its collection antedates the existence of the university itself.

The New Generation Currency (NGC) Series is the name used to refer to the Philippine peso currency series conceptualized from 2007 to 2010, and banknotes issued since 2010 and coins issued since 2017. The series uses the Myriad and Twentieth Century typefaces.

The Benavides Monument is a memorial in the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines built to commemorate the founder of the University of Santo Tomas, Miguel de Benavides. Located in the Plaza Benavides in front of the UST Main Building, the monument consists of a bronze statue of Benavides rising on top of a granite pedestal. The present monument was unveiled in 1946.
