V. C. Kabeer [1] is an Indian politician, Gandhian [2] and current president of Gandhi Darshan Samithi. [3] He served as a minister in Third Nayanar ministry from 2000-2001. He is a member of Kerala Legislative Assembly [4] for several years representing Ottappalam constituency.

Early life

V. C. Kabeer was born as the son of Shri. Cheku Haji and Smt. Sulekha Umma on 10 May 1943. A teacher by profession, he came to active politics through the students' wing of the Congress and Youth Congress. He had also been jailed for twenty days, in connection with the Vimochana Samaram.

Political career

V. C. Kabeer became elected to the 6th Kerala Legislative Assembly, from Ottappalam constituency, as an INC(U) Member. He represented the same constituency subsequently as Congress(S) Member in the 7th, 9th and 10th Kerala Legislative Assembly. He continued to represent Ottappalam constituency in the 11th Kerala Legislative Assembly, as a Member of NCP. But he resigned his membership in the 11th Kerala Legislative Assembly on 11 August 2005 to rejoin Congress. [5] In the Ministry headed by Shri. E. K. Nayanar, Shri V.C. Kabeer was the Minister for Health and Sports from 19 January 2000 to 13 May 2001. [6] He contested in the subsequent Kerala Legislative Assembly election as an INC candidate from his long-term fortress Ottapalam constituency. [7] However, he failed to gain the upper hand and eventually lost. [8]

P. C. Chacko is a former Member of Parliament from Thrissur Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. He is a former member of the Indian National Congress. Chacko resigned from Indian National Congress on 10 March 2021, stating that it had become difficult to be a congress leader in Kerala. P.C. Chacko is the first president of Thiruvananthapuram District committee of Kerala Students Union. He was the State president of Indian youth Congress from 1970 to 1973 and held the post of national General secretary of Indian youth Congress during 1973 - 1975. He became the general secretary of KPCC in 1975 and continued till 1979. He was elected to the Kerala Assembly in 1980 from Piravom constituency and during 1980- 81 he served as Minister for Industries in the state cabinet. He was elected to Loksabha in 1991 from Thrissur, in 1996 from Mukundapuram, in 1998 from Idukki and in 2009 again from Thrissur. On 16 March 2021 he joined Nationalist Congress Party, which is an ally of LDF in Kerala. He was appointed President of the Kerala State Unit of Nationalist Congress Party by the National President Sri. Sharad Pawar on 19 May 2021.

Thomas Kallampally was a notable politician and educationist from Kanjirappally, Kerala. He was born in Kanjirappally. He started Netaji Vayanasaala a library for the youth at Anakkal, Kanjirappally at the age of 18. He was elected as the State General Secretary of Kerala Students Congress, the students wing of Kerala Congress while doing his Law Degree at Government Law College, Ernakulam. He also served as the PTA president of St Antony's Public school from its inception till his demise. Kallampally was also a member of Center for Human Resourced Development of State of Kerala and Kerala State Pollution Control Board. He was also a lead campaign manager for the Kerala Congress for various Lok Sabha elections. Kallampally holds the record of the second youngest MLA in the history of Kerala Legislative Assembly having elected to the Assembly at the age of 26.

Parakulangara Thazathel Mohana Krishnan was the member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), a MLA of Ponnani constituency, and a social and political leader in Kerala. He was a member of the AICC since 1965.
