Vapen & ammunition (Swedish for Weapons & Ammunition) is the fifth studio album by Swedish alternative rock band Kent. It was released on 15 April 2002 through RCA Records and BMG. Absent from this album is a long, mostly-instrumental song, rounding the album off, as had been a characteristic of the band ever since their second record Verkligen . The white tiger on the cover is a tribute to the band's hometown Eskilstuna: the zoo in town had white tigers as its main attraction.

Contents

Vapen & ammunition was voted Best Album of 2002 on the Grammis awards, the Swedish equivalent to the Grammy. It is the best-selling album by Kent. In 2003, the album had sold over 600,000 copies worldwide. [4] [5]

Kent was a Swedish alternative rock band, formed in Eskilstuna in 1990. With members Joakim Berg, Martin Sköld, Sami Sirviö and Markus Mustonen, the band had numerous radio hits throughout Sweden and Scandinavia and consecutive number-one studio albums on the Sweden top list (Sverigetopplistan) beginning with the release of Verkligen (1996) and led by the single "Kräm ". With origins rooted in distorted rock, they found mainstream success through their alternative rock albums of the mid-1990s, 2000s and 2010s, the latter decades during which they adopted elements of synthpop. With eleven number-one albums, five number-one singles, 23 Swedish Grammy Awards, and over three million record sales, Kent is considered the most popular rock/pop group within Sweden and throughout Scandinavia. Vapen & ammunition (2002) topped the Swedish charts for eight weeks. Kent is often compared to bands like U2 and Coldplay.

Herbert Joakim "Jocke" Berg is a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician, best known as the lead singer of Swedish Rock/Pop band Kent. Berg rarely gives interviews, saying in one: less is more. Kent's lyrics contributed to their development from indie band to broad mass appeal as songs in Swedish are preferred among the slightly older population that Kent has attracted, according to an academic who has studied the band in their sociological and national context.
