Veronika Vilk (born 10 June 2006) is a Croatian freestyle wrestler. She won bronze medals at the 2025 European U23 Wrestling Championships and the 2025 U23 World Wrestling Championships. She was also the U17 World and European U17 champion, becoming the first Croatian female wrestler to win world and European titles. [1] [2]
Vilk first appeared internationally at the 2021 European U15 Wrestling Championships in Sofia, where she placed fifth after winning two matches. [3]
At the 2022 U17 World Wrestling Championships in Rome, she won bronze in the 69 kg category, marking the first world-level medal for Croatian women’s wrestling. [4]
In June 2023, she won gold at the 2023 European U17 Wrestling Championships in Tirana, defeating opponents from Lithuania, Hungary, Serbia, and Turkey—all by fall. [5] Two months later, she claimed the 2023 U17 World Wrestling Championships title in Istanbul, pinning Indian wrestler Srishti in just 55 seconds of the final match. [6]
In 2025, Vilk moved up to the U23 category and won bronze medals at both the European U23 Wrestling Championships in Tirana and the World U23 Wrestling Championships in Novi Sad. [7]
Vilk began wrestling in her hometown of Slatina under coach Mario Petrak. She currently trains at the club Podravka under coach Ivan Lončarić, with Nenad Žugaj serving as national team coach. [8]
