Victoria Beach is a small community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, in Annapolis County. It is on the shore of Digby Gut, a narrow channel connecting the Bay of Fundy with the Annapolis Basin. [1]
In 1849, it was the western terminus of Nova Scotia pony express, and a federal plaque in the community commemorates it. [2]
The heritage lighthouse at Battery Point is an eight metre tall wooden structure with octagonal iron lantern and was built in 1901. [3]
The area was labelled as Andromeda on a 1609 map by Marc Lescarbot, but was renamed for Queen Victoria following her silver jubilee in 1862. [4] [5] [6]
Port-Royal National Historic Site is a National Historic Site located on the north bank of the Annapolis Basin in the community of Port Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada. The site is the location of the Habitation at Port-Royal.

The Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act is an Act of the Parliament of Canada for the designation and preservation of historically significant Canadian lighthouses. It was passed by the Canadian Parliament in May 2008. The act set up a public nomination process and sets heritage building conservation standards for lighthouses which are officially designated. First introduced in 2000 as Bill S-21 in the Senate of Canada the bill enjoyed consistent multi-party support despite the unpredictable legislative agendas of minority Parliaments and was repeatedly re-introduced. The final vote of approval was made by the Canadian Senate in 2008 and the bill received Royal Assent on May 29, 2008.
The Battle of Bloody Creek was fought on December 8, 1757, during the French and Indian War. An Acadian and Mi'kmaq militia defeated a detachment of British soldiers of the 43rd Regiment at Bloody Creek, which empties into the Annapolis River at present day Carleton Corner, Nova Scotia, Canada. The battle occurred at the same site as a battle in 1711 during Queen Anne's War.

Schafner Point Lighthouse is located in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, on the north side of the Annapolis Basin facing Goat Island. It was built in 1885. It is known locally as the Port Royal lighthouse. It is a wooden construction with a square plan and tapered sides, supporting a gallery and octagonal iron lantern housing. It is protected by the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act.
