Wayne-Westland Community Schools is a school district headquartered in Westland, Michigan in Metro Detroit. [1]

Contents

The district service area includes all and/or portions of Westland, Wayne, Canton, Dearborn Heights, Inkster, and Romulus. [2] As of 2012 the district had 12,600 students. [3]

During the summer of 2013, the Inkster Public Schools District was dissolved. [4] The Wayne-Westland school district absorbed a portion of the Inkster District. [5] Students north of Michigan Avenue and west of Middlebelt were rezoned to Wayne-Westland. [6] As of July 2013, there were 65 registered students, including 34 elementary students, 13 middle school students, and 18 high school students, in Inkster Public Schools who lived within that part of the former Inkster district assigned to Wayne-Westland. [7]

The Taylor School District is headquartered the city of Taylor in Greater Detroit in the U.S. state of Michigan. The district, located in the Downriver area southwest of Detroit, has a territory of 25 square miles (65 km2). The district serves Taylor and portions of Brownstown, Dearborn Heights, Inkster, and Westland. As of 2014 it is the largest governmental unit in the Downriver area and the fifth-largest school district in Wayne County.

The Burger School for Students with Autism was established in 1973 as the Developmental Learning Program. Burger School is operated by the Garden City School District for the Wayne County Regional Educational Agency. It accepts students from preschool to high school, from age 3 to 26, from 34 school districts in Wayne County, Michigan.

Westwood Community School District is a school district headquartered in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, United States, in Metro Detroit. It serves portions of Dearborn Heights, Inkster and Dearborn; the sections of Dearborn within the district are zoned for industrial and commercial uses.

Harry S Truman High School was located in Taylor, Michigan in Metro Detroit. It was opened in 1973 as a combined High School and Middle School. The original school physical plant was designed using the Open School concept, which meant they had classrooms with no walls. But after several years of operating using that concept and a configuration as a combined senior/middle school, Taylor School District leaders decided to change the school into a stand-alone high school. In addition, district leaders began the process of installing walls within the building, creating individual classroom that continue to be the current school configuration today. Truman High School has been renamed Taylor High School in Fall 2018, following the Spring 2018 closure of Kennedy High School. Because of the closure, Kennedy's 2017-18 freshman class was transferred to Truman High School. As part of the renaming, school colors have been changed to black and gold, and the athletics teams will become the Griffins.

Wayne Memorial High School is a high school in Wayne, Michigan in Metro Detroit, on the corner of Glenwood Road and Fourth Street, sitting near the border of Wayne and its district partner Westland. It is a part of Wayne-Westland Community Schools. It serves portions of Wayne, Westland, Inkster, and Romulus.
