Established in 1986, the College of Fine, Performing, and Communication Arts (CFPCA) at Wayne State University is home to 17 undergraduate, 12 graduate, and four certificate programs in art, communication, dance, music and theatre. [1] CFPCA's alumni include a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and winners of and nominees for the Grammy, Emmy, Tony, Golden Globe, Obie, Screen Actors Guild and Caldecott awards. [2]

The majority of CFPCA's classes are offered at Wayne State's main campus in Midtown Detroit, but select classes are also offered at several of Wayne State's satellite campuses in the metro Detroit area. Students also have the possibility of studying or performing abroad.

The James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History, named for a patron of the arts in metro Detroit, offers bachelor's and master's programs, as well as an honors program for undergraduates.

The Department of Communication offers 6 bachelor's programs, four graduate certificate programs, a master's program with 7 possible concentrations along with a separate master's program in Dispute Resolution, and a doctoral program with 2 possible concentrations. Additionally, the department offers an Honors Program for undergraduates. The Department is also home to speech and debate teams as well as the Journalism Institute for Media Diversity. In addition, the student newspaper, The South End and the student-run Internet radio station, WAYN are included in the college.

Department of Theatre

The Department of Theatre is a department that offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree divided into two possible curricula, a Bachelor of Arts program, as well as a Master of Fine Arts program with six possible concentrations, a Master of Arts program, and a doctoral program. The Department also offers an Honors Program. Performance venues include Wayne State University's Bonstelle Theatre; the Hilberry Theatre; and The Studio Theatre. The department also has a touring company.

Enrollment

Fall 2019 enrollment for CFPCA was 1,951 students, including 1,401 full-time students and 550 part-time students. Enrollment comprises 1,739 undergraduate students and 212 graduate students. There were 98 full-time faculty members. The college awarded 420 degrees and certificates in 2018–19. [3]

Drama school

A drama school, stage school or theatre school is an undergraduate and/or graduate school or department at a college or university; or a free-standing institution ; which specializes in the pre-professional training in drama and theatre arts, such as acting, design and technical theatre, arts administration, and related subjects. The Boston University College of Fine Arts (CFA) at Boston University consists of the School of Music, the School of Theatre, and the School of Visual Arts. Each school offers degrees in the performing and visual arts at the undergraduate and graduate level. Among the College of Fine Arts faculty are artists, scholars, and performers. Since the College of Fine Arts is integrated into Boston University, students at CFA may choose courses in the other undergraduate colleges at Boston University. CFA students can also apply for the Boston University Collaborative Degree Program (BUCOP), where students simultaneously earn undergraduate degrees at CFA and in one of 14 undergraduate colleges of the university. Four Schools make up the College of Fine Arts & Communication at East Carolina University. The College was created on July 1, 2003, but has its roots to the beginning of ECU in 1907. The School of Theatre and Dance runs productions by the East Carolina Playhouse and the East Carolina Summer Theatre.

Arts administrators are responsible for facilitating the day-to-day operations of the organization as well as the long term goals by and fulfilling its vision, mission and mandate. Arts management became present in the arts and culture sector in the 1960s. Organizations include professional non-profit entities. For examples theaters, museums, symphonies, jazz organizations, opera houses, ballet companies and many smaller professional and non-professional for-profit arts-related organizations. Wayne State University Computer Science Department

Wayne State University Department of Computer Science is part of the College of Engineering. The department offers core academic strength in many areas including artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, data mining and machine learning, networking, databases, distributed and parallel computing, computer security, computer graphics and visualizations, and software engineering. Undergraduate and graduate degrees in Computer Science, as well as an undergraduate degree in Information Systems Technology and a certificate in Scientific Computing are offered in the department. In addition, graduate students have the opportunity to complete their Ph.D. work in Computer Science with a concentration in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.

The University of Iowa School of Music is a part of the Division of Performing Arts of the College of Liberal Art & Sciences. The school trains musicians for professional careers in performance, composition, music therapy, music theory, musicology, conducting, and music education. Admission to the school is selective, requiring students to be admitted to the university itself before being able to apply and audition for the school of music, at least at the undergraduate level.

The College of Letters and Science is the largest college at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The College, which offers 80 majors and 38 minors to over 17,000 undergraduates and 2,000 graduate students, has about 700 faculty members.

Hilberry Theatre (Wayne State University) United States historic place

The Hilberry Theatre is a 534-seat auditorium located at 4743 Cass Avenue in Midtown Detroit, Michigan. At this location, 40-50 graduate students are employed at the Wayne State University main campus. The students are pursuing master of fine arts degrees in acting, directing, theatre management, costuming or design management. Created in 1963, the Hilberry Theatre is the oldest graduate repertory company in the United States. The Hilberry Theatre puts on roughly six different plays, both modern and classic, from October through May each year.

University of Western Ontario Faculty of Information & Media Studies

The Faculty of Information and Media Studies (FIMS) is a faculty at University of Western Ontario, located in London, Ontario, Canada. The faculty offers programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels focusing on the advancement of knowledge in media, communications, and information technologies.

NIU College of Visual and Performing Arts is composed of three schools. The college also administers several university programs including, the NIU Art Museum, the NIU Community School of Arts, and NIU Huskie Marching Band.
