Walter Imahara...won the Pan-American Games gold medal for featherweight weightlifting Saturday. The silver medal went to Manuel Mateos de Larosa...Idelfonzo "Lee" Valdez...won the bronze medal.
Russell Knipp of the United States set a world record on his way to a middleweight gold medal in weightlifting competition Sunday. Koji Michi of Brazil took the silver medal and Luis Gonzaga de Almeida of Brazil the bronze medal.
Middle-heavyweight Paul Bjarnason...contributed a second-place silver in weightlifting...Philip Grippaldi...took the gold medal in the middle-heavy division and broke two Games records. The bronze went to Andres Martinez...
Joseph Dube, 23, of Jacksonville, Fla., broke two Pan-American Games records and won the heavyweight gold medal for the United States in weightlifting. The silver medal went to Ernesto Varona of Cuba and the third-place bronze to Brandon Baily of Trinidad-Tobago.
